NEWS FLASH
Zagreb Airport will start maintenance work on its single runway on April 4, which will lead to its closure during night-time. "It will involve repairing damages to the runway made since the last general overhaul in 2010", Zagreb Airport's spokeswoman, Lidia Capković Martinek, said. Croatia Airlines' Chief Operating Officer, Krešimir Vlašić, noted, "We can expect to have some delays with around 10% of our flights. In order to prevent any major issues, we have held talks with Pula Airport, which will serve as an alternative during this time". Runway works at Zagreb Airport will begin once the last flight of the day lands in the Croatian capital until the first service is scheduled to take off the next day. The reconstruction is expected to take two months to complete.
Split is now operational since a few days 24/7 and they go for Pula as the deviation alternative? It is maybe half an hour further by car than PUY. But if it was about closest proximity then ZAG would have had to go for Rijeka (only 1h45 from ZAG), no doubt about that.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I do not think it is coincidence that ZAG runway works started as soon as SPU offered night ops - otherwise the ZAG runway works would have had to be done during the winter season when ops are at its lowest.
no way they would have given SPU the greenlight to be a diversion airport. anything zagreb can do to limit passenger numbers of split dubrovnik, and most saddest to me Rijeka
ReplyDeleteThis is such a childish comment. Really sad.

DeleteHahahah what the heck?! Pula for diverted flights?! Are they normal?! Pula is almost 2 hours further by bus from Zagreb than Rijeka! What is wrong with management people?!
ReplyDeleteMARIBOR would be the best...
ReplyDeleteDefinetely no cus u have to cross the SLO/CRO border and if u going by bus there are delays on daily base. Probably it would bejust worse during the summer season.
Nije sve u kilometrima.
ReplyDeleteWho counts the pax for statistics? PUY?
