Ohrid Airport to undergo overhaul

NEWS FLASH

Ohrid St Paul the Apostle Airport is set for a major overhaul this year, Macedonia’s Minister for Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, has announced. According to the Minister, work will commence in the coming months. The reconstruction has been previously pledged by successive governments as part of the commitments made by concessionaire TAV Macedonia. In 2022, TAV Macedonia told EX-YU Aviation News, "There is a plan to develop and expand Ohrid Airport’s infrastructure, with construction work to be carried out in phases, depending on various factors, primarily the growth in air traffic". The airport’s terminal building last underwent a full renovation and expansion in 1995.

@15.30 its solely TAV's duty and responsibility to do that and not some government. Gi cicaat makedonskite vladi kako ke im tekne (i kako ke im dadat)

The design is still not shared , as we know the existing terminal building will be renovated such as increasing the capacity from 300k to 600k passengers.

      TAV and design?

    3. Anonymous16:25

TAV is not a design studio :D , they will open a call for designers to make the project after they will decide which one they will select , seems logically ? ;))

dont expect a design miracle ... they could have done it with SKP if they wanted

Nobody expect a design mircale , will be like all other small size airports..
Btw whats wrong with SKP building ? I really like it , in 2011when they open was one of the most modern in Ex yu ...

I enjoy being there too, especially when arriving ... but have a look at the ceiling for example, its horrible from every aesthetic point of view

They changed the plan to the reduce cost , the first design was more sophisticated and modern

    Much needed.

Macedonia has enough money to build a tiny modern Terminal and get rid of this Bus station from the 70's which is probably the size of an H&M shop.

enough mone or not its not their job to do so.... why give something under consession when you are fooled to build their airport buildings ....

    3. Anonymous20:14

TAV will pay for the costs , thats why they get the concession , everything that they invest since 2011 its payed by them , the government doesnt have nothing with this

    Love the old Ohrid airport.

Why? There is hardly any interest for Ohrid flights. Maybe as a backup when SKP is fogged during winter. Most of the tourist who fill Ohrid hotels come by car, and that will not change.

If I remember correctly, according to the concession contract, TAV was supposed to pay for the development of both airport buildings and in tune of 130 million euros (back n the days that was big money). I hope people in the government read the small prints...
