NEWS FLASH
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport handled 72.603 passengers in January, representing a decrease of 3.4% on the same period last year. The airport welcomed 2.593 fewer travellers than in January 2024. The number of aircraft movements stood at 1.473, down 19.8%. The airport is expected to see the weaker figures continue into February, with scheduled seat capacity down 9.5% during the month.
bravo fraport
ReplyDeleteAs per usual
ReplyDeleteAdmin what are the numbers looking like for March and especially April?
ReplyDeleteMy calculation from March is 121.800 and April 155.500 availble sits. I calculatet how airlines puts flight on their timeteble and what kind plane usualy used. March is stil 2% down on last year, and April is grown 10 % on last year April.
DeleteThey can't even put out the summer schedule on their website, let alone promote the flights....
ReplyDeleteWho books tickets based on an airport schedule?
DeleteIt's not about the bookings, it's about putting the options out there
DeleteFraport doing their best guys don't be mean :(
ReplyDeleteTrieste will overopass ljubljana in 2025. just sad
ReplyDeleteAs someone living in Ljubljana I fly far more often from Trieste, has budget options, far more destinations, and can get there for as little as 10 euros with goopti. LJU is an absolute shame.
DeleteInteresting is the passenger numbers per population factor for some European countries:
ReplyDeleteYear 2023:
Switzerland had factor 5.87 (5.87 x passenger per CH resident)
Serbia had factor 1.25
Croatia had factor 2.80
Italy had factor 2.77
Slovenia had factor 0.59
Germany factor 2.19
Denmark factor 5.33
Norway factor 6.59
Montenegro factor 4.04
N Macedonia factor 1.73
Netherlands factor 3.98
Hungary factor 1.55
Slovakia factor 0.44
Austria factor 3.62
Bulgaria factor 1.64
Romania factor 1.20
France factor 2.34
Spain factor 4.87
Czech Republic factor 1.37
Greece factor 6.12
Turkey factor 1.97
Poland factor 1.36
Portugal factor 5.80
Ireland factor 7.41
Latvia factor 3.51
Estonia factor 2.15
Cyprus factor 9.21
Sweden factor 2.79
Belgium factor 2.73
Summertime tourism beats every other aspect esp for less populated contries. That's why Cyprus, Greece or Montenegro have higer factors then Netherlands, for example. They have high GDP, LCC presence, huge domestic airline with many transfer passengers, even tourist hotspot Amsterdam yet country is behind those 3. Slovenia and Slovakia need to buy some tropical island to boost those numbers.
DeleteWhat tropical island do Belgium, Sweden, Austria have?
DeleteSlovenia is really poorly connected. Total passengers were 1.26 Mio, ranked last in the list.
DeleteSlovakia still had 2.43 Mio passengers
Slovenia one one side is understandable as they have TRS KLU VCE ZAG GRZ near by, still the question arises, why even KLU and TRS can afford year round LCC flights to various southern European destinations, but Slovenia not. But it is true, smaller populated touristic hotspots located by the sea, have an advantage, especially with their summer connectivity.
Estonia had 2.94 Mio, Latvia 6.61 Mio, Luxembourg 4.79 Mio (not 1:1 comparable as they have a national carrier). Several factors lead to the numbers, but one thing is clearly evident. Slovenia could be better connected and despite parts of Slovenia being better connected over TRS, GRZ or ZAG, the question is, why even ex Ljubljana city so many passengers prefer TRS VCE or ZAG over LJU. And I think one good reason, is the lack of LCC presence at LJU Airport.
Tropical island suggestion was a lighthearted joke
Delete"Softer start" is a really strong word, this is a complete disaster.

ReplyDeletePlease, wise guys of the daily internet news, why don't you bless us once and for all with your full names?
I mean, with brilliance like yours, why hide behind anonymity? The world deserves to know exactly who to credit for such groundbreaking insights .
Why didn't you follow your own example, Anonymous?
DeleteFraport could and should be doing much better than this, but does it and the government actually want to? Year after year of inertia would suggest not.
ReplyDeleteIf WizzAir with their three weekly flights oeprated by A320 is top 9, the situation here in LJU is really bad.
ReplyDeleteThe scheduled seat capacity of Wizz Air for LJU is not correct. It is 4.680 not 4.320, making Wizz Air ahead of Air France.
ReplyDelete1171 passengers per day departed or arrived at LJU in January (total 2342 per day). This is really low
ReplyDeleteEven last August, only 2687 passengers per day departed LJU or 0.12% of the SLO population per day
Let's assume 50% were foreign origin tickets in August. That would mean that during the month of August only 1.91% of the SLO population departed via LJU and this during the summer peak month.... Even if it is 2 or 2.2% it is really low
