Aegean Airlines, which will inaugurate seasonal flights between Athens and Dubrovnik from June 15, will boost its operations on the route, adding a further two weekly flights for a total of five weekly rotations. Services will be operated by the Olympic Air branded Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Aegean will compete against Croatia Airlines on the route, which maintains three weekly flights between the two cities. Further flight details for Aegean’s new Athens - Dubrovnik service can be found here.
Croatia Airlines good bye. That's how we love you in Star Alliance.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Star Alliance relies on a model where bigger members exploit smaller ones. For example, if Lot were independent they would have five flights with A388 or B748 to North America only. They would always have sufficient feeds. But being in Star alliance they're squeezed to only two daily flights on a under-300 seater. Lufthansa takes em three to four times more transatlantic pax. Speaking of longhaul passengers to Croatian coast things are even worse. It's just a matter of time when TK starts serving SPU and/or DBV. Croatia Airlines is not even a feeder to other, larger members of the alliance. It would have been much different if OU have joined Oneworld when Malev went bankrupt, but it's was not possible due to politics it seems..
