Niš Airport sees strong growth

Thursday, April 7, 2016

Niš Constantine the Great Airport has recorded strong passenger growth during the first quarter of the year. It welcomed 15.356 travellers over the past three months. During the same period in 2015 there were almost no passengers. The growth is fuelled by Wizz Air, which launched flights from Basel and Malmo mid-way through 2015. "There is significant interest for Wizz Air's flights and the average cabin load factor to and from Niš is constantly above 90%", the airport's spokeswoman, Ivanka Stanisavljević, said. Wizz Air will maintain flights to Niš during the 2016/17 winter season as well and has put tickets on sale.

I guess that the yields are not there despite healthy loads. Hope this changes in the future.

It`s happening now. Nis Airport has increased dramatically revenues, especially non traffic revenues, logistics terminal revenues, customs terminal revenues and cargo traffic revenues in particular. Nis Airport already has positive financial result

I was speaking of Wizz Air, not INI. If their yields were healthy they would have added more frequencies and/or destinations.

I am looking forward to see more LC airlines in the future, as well as renovation of its terminal building. Well done INI!

I personally fly FR from BUD, but I will happily fly from INI to avoid crossing borders, because sometimes it´s really pain in the arse, also travel time to Nis is about 4 hours shorter then from Belgrade to Budapest. Lets hope you are right.

FR may launch something from INI but not necessarily the route you need. For sure they won't launch more than two routes - only a fraction of what they serve from BUD.

I know that, however there is always option to easily connect with another FR flight in Frankfurt, Paris or anywhere where they would eventually fly from Nis. They have definitely unbeatable prices comparing to other airlines

Low cost airlines like FR are point-to-point airlines and do not offer connecting flights. It's a big risk trying to make any connections with them because they do not take any responsibility for it. In the vast majority of cases that risk is really not worth it.

Not necessarily I use to use them with connections as well. If the flights are cheap I don't mind
