Ryanair confirms new Zadar flights

Zadar awaits Ryanair
Today tickets went on sale for flights between Zadar, located on Croatia’s Adriatic Coast and Scotland’s capital Edinburgh. The world’s largest low cost carrier Ryanair will commence the new flights from April 1 and the service will operate twice a week. Ryanair already operates flights from Zadar to London-Stansted Airport and Dublin and it is expected that it will carry a total of 65.000 passengers to and from Zadar. Ryanair’s manager for sales and marketing stated that the airline is delighted that it will offer new flights to Zadar. The sliding value of the British Pound will ensure that more people will travel to and from the United Kingdom and Zadar, being a popular summer destination will benefit from the extra tourists. All details regarding Ryanair’s flights can be found on the right hand side in the “new route launches” section.

Zadar saw a 34% increase in passenger numbers in 2008. This growth is expected to slow in 2009 however the airport is still expected to post good results by the end of the year.

Note: Despite threats from the Macedonian Civil Aviation Agency that it will ground the national carrier MAT on January 15 if it does not pay for its owing debt, the Macedonian national carrier has been operating flights as scheduled today with the airline’s first flight of the day IN911 departing from Skopje to Zurich via Vienna.
