On October 25, Priština welcomed its millionth passenger, which is 20 days earlier than in 2008. “In 2008, for the first time in the history of this airport 1 million passengers passed through our doors within a year. This year, if it were a regular year, this achievement would not be as significant. However, having in mind the global financial crisis and the reduction of passenger figures at almost every airport in the region, this year’s result represents an optimistic statistic and a considerable increase in the number of passengers”, Agron Mustafa, Priština Airport CEO said.
During 2008, the airport handled 1.137.000 passengers plus a further 100.000 military personnel which are not included in the official statistic. This success also has a lot to do with the increased flight offer from Priština. The number of flights rose by 17% compared to 2008. This year the airport began to operate 24 hours a day and heavily reduced handling prices in order to lure airlines, particularly low cost ones. Air Berlin holds the greatest share of arrivals and departures in Priština.
great news for Pristina Airport!!!
ReplyDeletelajme super per Aeroportin Nderkombetar e Prishtines!!!
Well I don't think the economic crisis would affect Kosovo as a region needs to have an economy for it to be affected.
ReplyDeletepeople smuggling for example is being affected as not as many people as before are able to buy abducted persons or illegal immigrants for, lets say prostitution. Having said that, with the new biometric Serbian passports being harder to falsify, the cost for illegal Serbian passports (or the not so technically developed "pasaporta e Republikes se Kosoves") is higher, there for there would obviously be a drop in demand.... lol :p
ReplyDeletejokes aside, there is alot of constructin being done in Southeastern Serbia, especially on the Pristina-Tirana-Durres highway, which is a big thing in both Serbia and Albania, expecting to drastically cut travel time from Pristina to the Adriatic. With ethnic violence and violet riots in Kosovo, the global financial crisis wasnt something Kosovo needed and im sure that is now even more hampering investment into Kosovo. Kosovo does have an economy, just not a good one with the corrupt Pristina government who are more keen on pushing out the non Albanian population from Kosovo than raising the standard of living in Kosovo!
Good job Pristina!!

ReplyDeleteAlot has changed since JAT operated flights to Beijing. Federal Republic of Yugoslavia no longer exsists and Milosevic is no longer president. The Serbian government has changed its politics greatly and has brang in many new laws. If next summer BEG does recieve flights from China i dont see any threat on illegal immigration happening like before. I dont mind the Chinese people living here, because, at least they work for every dinar and dont make kids so they can beg on the street like alot of the Gypsy community do. Education is a big thing for them, they go to school and fit in with the society, speak Yugoslavian, and you even get Chinese kids by the name of Jelena, Milos, Dragan...As for the Chinese businesses, in Novi Beograd there is a 2 double storey chinese shopping centres one next to the other. they bought each shop one by one, svaka im chast i zhelim ih puno uspeha :)
The funny thing with the Serbian/Bosnian border is that you can walk across the Drina and probably would wet your knees.

ReplyDeletelittle correction:
The fact!

I ja im zelim uspjeha :)
