Ohrid overhaul complete

New look for St. Paul

The upgrade of Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport’s terminal has been completed, as was originally agreed upon between the Government of Macedonia and TAV Holdings, the airport’s owner. The airport’s new look terminal will be officially opened tomorrow by the Macedonian Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski, and the TAV management in the country.

A 1.000 square meter hanger and a 2.000 square meter VIP lounge have been built at Ohrid Airport as part of the project. The airport has also received a 6.000 square meter parking lot. However, little work has been done on the passenger terminal with many wondering where TAV’s millions of Euros, allocated for the project, have been spent.

Nevertheless, TAV has delivered good on its promise to upgrade Ohrid and the project was completed on time. Work is ongoing at Skopje Airport where a new terminal is being built and expected to be completed by the end of October.

dont care about the money... its good that upgraded it a bit... its their money (TAV) not the money from the republic of macedonia so they can do what ever they want with it... and its not cheap to build a new vip lounge a new parking sqaure and so on....

  10. I don't understand why would you need to have a VIP Lounge at an airport of this size that serves primarily to leisure travelers. Doesn't have a lot of sense like many other things in the Balkans.

If you think the upgrades at OHD are a waste of money, wait until you see what they have planned for the new cargo airport in Stip. This project would make sense ONLY if SKP couldn't handle the necessary cargo flights. As we all know, with only about 10-15 flights a day, there's plenty of capacity left at SKP.

VIP terminal at this airpory really makes me wonder, how many business seats are operated inylto Ohrid? JATs ATRs don't have business I guess, maybe Swiss' services? That would be roughly 20 pax a week if the business class sector on their flights were at 100% capacity! Also the hanger? I mean really for what?

  13. people you must look positive on this, we do not know how many private planes lands in Ohrid, but for sure there are some.
and also TAV has really big plan for OHD airport in 1-2 years to be connected with few capitals in Europe.

Fly Nikki starts 2 weekly flights VIE-SKP-VIE

OHRID IS A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT IN THE SUMMER IT IS A HIDDEN TREASURE OF THE BALKANS, UNDISCOVERED BY THE WESTERN TRAVELERS IT NEEDS A STABLE AIRLINE TO BASE THERE, PERHAPS SEASONAL DURING 6 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR, ADRIA AIRWAYS HAD A DAILY FLIGHT OHRID- LJUBLJANA BUT GAVE UP ON THIS AIRPORT RIGHT WHEN VISA RESTRICTIONS FOR MACEDONIAN CITIZENS TRAVEL TO EUROPE WERE LIFTED. BAD TIMING,SPARE US WESTERNERS FROM HAVING TO USE SKP-OR TIA AIRPORTS,PREFER OHD.

From May to September this year 62000 air tickets has been sold for tourists visiting Ohrid annd Struga. Total passengers this year should be arround 165000(the same number of passengers as in 1989). It is a very good financial result for Ohrid airport who has total of 95 person stuff in all airport services and facilities.
