Soon in Ljubljana
Two Russian airlines will launch flights to Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport this summer season. As a result, the Slovenian capital will be connected to Moscow’s three largest airports - Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. The new arrivals will put an end to Adria Airways’ long running monopoly on the route.The Russian charter company Kuban Airlines will inaugurate flights to Ljubljana on April 2. Flights will operate from Vnukovo Airport, which is served mostly by charter airlines and carriers from the former Soviet republics. Kuban will be followed by RusLine, which will launch services to the Slovenian capital from Moscow’s busiest airport - Domodedovo. Flights will operate twice per week from July 2 with a Bombardier CRJ200. Details can be found here. Originally, RusLine was to launch flights to Ljubljana last year, however, later decided against the move. The new arrivals will compete against Adria which is offering eight weekly flights to Sheremetyevo Airport. The Russian national carrier Aeroflot code shares on Adria’s service, despite the two being from rival airline alliances (Star and Sky Team).
Several days ago, the Finnish national carrier Finnair resumed its seasonal service from Helsinki to Ljubljana with up to four weekly flights onboard the Airbus A319. Services will operate until the end of the summer season, in late October. Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport recently announced that it is working on bringing low cost airlines to the Slovenian capital from the 2012/2013 winter season, although, as previously reported, talks with Ryanair have broken down.
ExYu Admin from where is this info, because Kuban Airlines is cancel all flights to LJU. If you look there web page there is no any info about Ljubljana and also Rusline can't competite to JP with flights to Moscow, because the JP ticket price is 100€ lower than Ruslines.

ReplyDeleteVnukovo used to be utilised by CIS-airlines only, but more and more Star Alliance carriers are switching to it (Turkish Airlines has already done it and LH Group airlines are strongly considering rerouting most of the traffic to there).
ReplyDeleteGood news. I do not understand why Croatia Airlines doesn’t spread eastwards like Adria or other ex-Yu airlines. I’m sure there is a big enough market for them.

DeleteDuring winter season most of the time CRJ2 max CRJ9 is enaugh (A32s during new year).
ReplyDeleteBut during summer A32s is quite often used. In anyway, they can not compete with CRJ2 as I think they cant have lower fares than Adria on A32s + PAX will choose A32s over CRJ.
And I do not get a point sending CRJ2 on such a long route, even Adria has problems with that but that is the cost of having daily connection.
Why are there so many flights between LJU and Moscow? Are there any tourists to Croatia or Slovenia and if they travel to Istria isn't it cheaper to use PUY and RJK instead of LJU?
ReplyDeleteThe only country that has more intensive relations to Russia in the ex-yu are Serbia and Montenegro but Slovenia has even more flights compared to its size..
There are two segments, 1.business (very important, mind you slovenian pharmaceutical companies Krka and Lek have part of their production based in Russia, cheaper work force, and of course enormeous market;this is just one part of business segment,there are more), 2.tourism; not everybody go abroad just to the seaside, Russians travel to Slovenia also because of other thing, Alps(+skiing), and spas.Austria has a big increase of Russians in their ski resorts (check how many charters from Russia gets Salzburg), so i think Slovenia should try even more!!also, some tourists like to have dinamic holidays, so they spend some days on the beach, visit Venice, Ljubljana, alpine landscape so LJU is perfect for that :)about Istria, you're right, but those flights are charters, so anyone who travels individualy has to fly either to LJU/VCE/ZAG;

ReplyDeleteInterest for particular rote cannot be shown, or seen, based on individual flight.
DeleteToday's Aviogenex flight ZAG-BEG is ferry flight, operated without passengers, and it's only "positioning" flight of the croatian charter airline TradeAir/Sunadria, equipment Fokker100, which will after operate Belgrade-Barcelona, on behalf of Aviogenex.
I don't know the reason why "Genex" cannot operate this fligh, maybie regular maintenance.
Another flight like this will be operated by TDR on behalf of Genex, 22.04., this time from BEG to Madrid. Both flights DONT CARRY passengers, or freight on ZAG-BEG-ZAG segments.
It's not that I wouldn't like to see such service ASAP, unfrotunatelly, it's still not a case.
