Montenegro Airlines seeks fifth freedom rights from Zagreb

The CEO of Montenegro Airlines, Daliborka Pejović, says her airline intends to expand its reach into new markets by launching flights between European Union member states. Ms. Pejović says the carrier is considering introducing its first inter-EU flights from Zagreb to Copenhagen. “We have sent a request for the government to approve flights from Podgorica or Tivat to Zagreb and onwards to Copenhagen and Europe. Since Montenegro Airlines has good ties with all carriers in the region, it is possible to make a favourable arrangement with Croatia Airlines. We expect this will further improve our business”, Ms. Pejović says, adding that the premise of competition is to drive the company to further grow and expand in the market.

According to its CEO, Montenegro Airlines is holding up well against increased competition in the region. “There was some justified concern last October when Etihad came onto the market, however, action undertaken by the Montenegrin national carrier has cemented our position as a competitive European airline”, Ms. Pejović says. She notes that while most airlines have seen their passenger numbers decline on Russia bound flights, in wake of the Ukraine crisis, Montenegro Airlines has managed to improve its figures. Over the peak summer months (June, July and August) the carrier handled some 4.000 passengers more on its Moscow bound flights when compared to the same period last year.

Commenting on the airline’s upcoming privatisation process, Ms. Pejović says some interest has been shown, adding that the carrier has received letters of intent. “In this process, it is important for Montenegro Airlines to regularly meet its payment obligations to Airports of Montenegro, the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency but also to its employees", she says. In May, Etihad Airways expressed interest to boost cooperation with Montenegro Airlines and look into the possibility of purchasing a stake in the national carrier. Earlier this year, the Montenegrin Privatisation and Capital Investment Council announced plans to privatise Montenegro Airlines this year.

    It is not stupid idea that Montenegro fly to Zagreb and from Zagreb to some other destination. But Copenhagen is most stupid idea because on ZAG-CPH route:

    1. Croatia Airlines is on that route with 6 frequencies per week

    2. CTN has code-share with SAS and connections via ZAG to SPU, DBV, ZAD, PUY, OSI, SJJ, SKP, TGD, but also via CPH to number of destinations in Scandinavia and rest of the World.

    3. CPH and ZAG are Star Alliance hubs.

    4. For sure CTN cannot code-share on route to Star Alliance hub on which they cannot have code-share in same time with SAS (do not forget that CTN has code-share on SAS routes to USA from CPH), and for sure SAS will never put code-share on route where Montenegro plane is flying.

    Here Montenegro cannot be any competition at all. I think it is just tool to treat CTN and to open some other routes which would be benefit for them both.


    What they should do is:
    1. code-share to Croatia Airlines on TGD-ZAG and later TIV-ZAG routes, with connections via ZAG to CTN flights to LHR, BCN, LIS, FCO, AMS, BRU, CDG, CPH, FRA, MUC, TXL, VIE, ZRH, SPU, ZAD, PUY, OSI, SJJ, SKP, IST)

    2. open routes where Croatia does not fly and which are not Star Alliance hub and where they will have code-share with Croatia Airlines like ZAG-MAD, ZAG-DUB, ZAG-MXP, ZAG-PRG, ZAG-DME (SVO), ZAG-LED, ZAG-OTP, or some of CTN routes that CTN is will to give them in conterfavour like ZAG-AMS, ZAG-CDG, ZAG-BCN, ZAG-FCO).

    3. Of course those routes should be in same time Montenegro routes with 1 stop (for example TGD-ZAG-MAD)

    That is win-win combination for Montenegro and Croatia Airlines.

      Also there is possibility that this is just blackmail to Air Serbia and tool to make them collaborate with Montenegro like “if you will not give us same deal like B&H Airlines we will start to collaborate with Croatia Airlines”.

      But for sure Croatia Airlines deal with Montenegro is crucial for fight against Air Serbia. For years I shout that collaboration with B&H airlines (SJJ-ZAG-MXP/OTP, OMO-ZAG-PRG/SOF) and Montenegro (TGD-ZAG-DME/MAD, TIV-ZAG-DUB/BCN) is crucial for CTN survival.

      Da, prema opisu (135 zrakoplova, 90 destinacija, Soros 18% vlasnik) ta zainteresirana kompanija za Croatiu je HAINAN.

      Nije da ova kompanija nije imala izlete na ove prostore. Jedini su letjeli iz Kine za BUD, i povukli se po bankrotu Maleva zajedno sa Americanom (sa kojim, uzgled, imaju code-share).

      Ono što ja vidim u Hainanu pozitivno za potencijalni deal je:
      + kupuju kompanije (vlasnici su Africa World Airlines iz Gane, majušne kompanije koja ima 3 ERJ-145; 45% su suvlasnici brzorastučeg Hong Kong Airwaysa, a večinski su suvlasnici još 10 kineskih kompanija koje ukupno imaju zavidnu flotu od 249 zrakoplova)
      + zajedno Hainan sa svojih 12 subsidiariesa ima 388 zrakoplova među kojima i A320 obitelj
      + u Europi lete tek za 3 destinacije (TXL, BRU i CDG), te dvije u Rusiji (SVO i LED) što znači da bi im ZAG mogao biti dobar europski hub
      + na Istočnoj obali Sjeverne Amerike lete tek za 2 destinacije (Chicago i Toronto), pa bi i linije prema SAD-u mogle ići via ZAG (JFK npr.)
      + kompanija je u prošloj godini imala 276 milijuna EUR profita
      + kompanija je djelomično u privatnom vlasništvu, među kojima i Soros sa 18,5%
      + jedna su od sedam zračnih kompanija koje su rangirane sa 5*****

      Negativne stvari:
      - kompanije jako mijenja strategiju razvoja
      - olako se povlače iz destinacija pa su se tako u kratkom periodu povukli sa 33 destinacije (u Europi su ostali na 3 destincije, a povukli su se iz ZRH, IST i BUD)
      - nemaju baš previše narudžbi, samo 4 787-800
      - te 22 kineska Comac C919 - nedo bog da ih utrampe nama, onda smo sigurno otišli u tri...
      - koketiraju sa Sky Teamom i Etihadom (prvo i nije tako loše, čak štoviše možebitno i cijeli deal jest produkt kuhinje koncesionara ZL Zagreb, ali ovo drugo u kontekstu Air Serbie svakako nije dobro za Croatiu)
      - no usprkos koketiranju nisu ni u jednoj alijansi, a od code-shere koje imaju i koje bi mogli prebaciti na CTN, tek su oni sa Air Berlinom, Americanom, Koreanom, Rossiyom i S7 dobri za CTN (bio bi dobar i Brussels ali to LH neće dozvoliti, te Etihad da nije involviran sa Air Serbiom)

      No, poučeni prošlom blamažom i diletantizmom nekako u to ne vjerujem previše. Pri će to biti navlakuša za neke durge, tj. uvjeravanje da postoje ozbiljni igrači, jer nitko normalan ne iznosi podatke o pregovaraču dok su pregovori još u igri. Nadam se da toliki diletantizam ne vlada u Ministarstvu, iako gledavši posljednji fijasko...

      To za C919 se slazem da je avion grozan.

      Ja nisam rekao da nemaju 8x 787-800, nego samo da imaju na stoku jako malo naručenih zapadnih aviona, dočim je mogućnosti širenja u kratkoročnom periodu limitirana, a pitanje je i financija poduzeća koje nema predviđenu ekspanziju u petogodišnjem periodu, jer ovi C919 se ne mogu smatrati krakoročnom ekpanzijom.

      C919 je čista kopija A320, do u milimetar, i nije grozan aviona. Samo se bojim ralizacije, da će finalni proizvod biti poluproizvod i da će se rušiti ko kruške, a to svakako nije dobro za image i jedne zapadne kompanije.

      Kopija je CS300, Koji je rezvoj Bombardier CS300 next gen aircraft.

      Naravno ima problema jer Kinezi sve kpoiraju, tako da kvaliteta nije tu, ali CTN ce ici za CS100, progovori se vode oko cetri zrakoplova za CTN, svi bi trebali uci u sastav CTN u 2017/8, pregovori se vec vode od pocetka 2014.

      CTN be se trebala prosiriti u 2016/17 za 8 novih aviona, cetri Airbus A319 u 2016/17 i CS100 isto tamo nekak, mozda u 2018oj.

    Vučić na RTS jučer izjavio da je Air Serbija jača kompanija od svih ostalih zračnih kompanija u regiji zajedno.

    1. Po prometu jedva da je jača od CTN-a (a pitanje je hoće li to biti do kraja godine). Ako zbrojimo vjerovatne brojke za 2014:

    Air Serbia: 1,7 milijuna

    Croatia: 1,7 milijuna
    Adria: 1,1 milijun
    Montenegro: 0,7 milijuna
    B&H Airlines, Trade Air and European Costal: 0,1 milijun
    = 3,6 milijuna (2,1 puta veličina Air Serbie, JU tek 32% ukupnog broja putnika)


    2. Po broju zrakoplova

    Air Serbia: 19

    Croatia: 12
    Adria: 11
    Montenegro: 6
    B&H Airlines: 2
    Trade Air: 3
    European Costal: 2
    = 36 (1,9 puta veličina Air Serbie, JU tek 34% ukupnog broja aviona)

      Politicari svugdje, a pogotovo u nasim krajevima stalno misle na nove izbore tako da ja nebi pretjerano uzimao u obzir sta oni kazu, can ni ne ovaj broj koji sam pomenuo gore. Na kraju krajeva sta on zna sem sto mu neko kaze,a taj koji mu govori naravno da ce sve da preuvelica.

      Joj, Purgeru, potrošio si 10-15 minuta svog života analizirajući nepatvorene budalaštine kojima ovdašnji političari truju sluđeni narod. Srećom se narečena budaletina nije ništa pitala u ovom poslu sa Etihadom jer da se pitala to bi bila garancija neuspeha čitavog projekta.

      Da sam na tvom mestu ne bih uopšte obraćao pažnju na izjave političara. Bitnije je šta kažu Kondić i Hogan, mada se i kod njih vidi da nisu previše voljni da govore o razvojnim planovima.

      Izblamirao se i izgubio kredibilitet. A ako mu je to podvalio netko od savjetnika onda si je sam kriv jer se okružio pogrešnim ljudima. Takvom mora dati odmah otkaz, a sam snositi posljedice svoje gluposti.

      U svakom slučaju ne vjerujem u to. On je tipačan P.R. Slobe Miloševića koji sve debelo pruveličava i vrlo je vjerovano ovu notornu glupost rekao svjesno i namjerno, radi vlastitih jeftinih političkih bodova. Pa ako je kao supermen pozvaniji izvlačiti djecu iz snjega umjesto vojnika, ili bakice iz poplave umjesto vatrogasaca, što ona znači netočan podatak koji se stavi u uši vlastitih birača. Riječi su jeftine.

      No, poanta je da je pitanje što je u svemu tome onda točno, ako su riječi jeftine, ako nema političke odgovornosti za iznenesne notorne laži. Koliko je u cijelom projektu istine izneseno, a koliko laži.

      W6 se nemoze racunati kao balkanska aviokompanija posto je registrovana u Madjarskoj.
      SunExpress se takodje nemoze racunati kao 100% balkanskom posto je 50 % pripada DLH a i nemac je CEO.
      ROT ce biti vec preskocen ove godine sigurno a i takodje flota im je grozna.
