Adria to inaugurate Munich - Bratislava service next summer |
Adria Airways is continuing to expand operations outside of its home country, with the CEO of Bratislava Airport confirming that the Slovenian carrier will launch flights from Munich to the Slovak capital next year. Adria’s new service will be scheduled to offer passengers from Slovakia numerous connections onto Lufthansa’s network. Bratislava Airport, which is located only fifty kilometres from Vienna Airport and offers 23 daily buss shuttles to the Austrian capital, has always been in the shadow of its counterpart but is increasingly becoming a low cost hub with the likes of Ryanair and Niki opening bases in the city next spring.
Adria has strengthened cooperation with its Star Alliance partner Lufthansa, with the airline launching flights from Pristina and Lodz to Munich over the past two years. In addition, it maintains flights to the Bavarian capital from Ljubljana. Flights from Munich to Bratislava are likely to be operated by Adria’s newly leased Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft. With a capacity to seat seventy passengers, the jet will be based in the Polish city of Lodz from late March 2015. The aircraft, registered D-ACPK, is being leased from Lufthansa CityLine and is twelve years old. It has been stored at Ljubljana Airport and has been stripped of its former livery.
In addition to the Bratislava service, the Slovenian carrier will be adding several new routes to its network next year. It will launch flights from Ljubljana to Stockholm and Berlin, open a base in Lodz with a new service to Amsterdam and introduce flights from Tirana to Paris and Brussels. Adria will count four bases from next summer, which are Ljubljana, Pristina, Tirana and Lodz. In a recent interview, the airline’s CEO, Mark Anžur, said, “Strategically we want to be a European carrier and not only a Slovenian carrier. We are embracing internationalisation. There are many reasons for this. One of them being that the Slovenian market is very limited. Through this segment of our strategy, we expect a 5% increase in our passenger numbers.
go,go Adria
ReplyDeleteIndeed. These are some interesting developments and it's really good that Adria is thinking outside the box.
DeleteInteresting and hopefully good move. I hope there are enough routes from MUC that are not offered by VIE because VIE is really Bratislava's primary airport - everyone are using taxi/shuttle services from/to there. Let's hope MUC can offer more destinations and better flight times because that would be key factor in any passenger's decision to give up on VIE.
Deletewhat a great news. I can't wait S15 :)
ReplyDeleteWasn't it reported on here that flights to Berlin and Stockholm are at risk due to an increase in taxes at Ljubljana airport?
ReplyDeleteAccording to Air Serbia's website, the airline will operate double daily flights to Ljubljana with the B737-300!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Ljubljana but SPU lost the Atr so now all the flights are operated by the A319!
DeleteINN-NS
B733 is heading to Sofia today, again. Does anyone on here have the loads?
DeleteBas me zanima dali ce Aviolet i dalje da postoji kad 733 ode u penziju.

I think that B733 should wear full air serbia livery as they using them more for regular the for charter flights
DeleteUnfortunately that is never going to happen which is a shame because the B would look great with the eagle.
DeleteRegarding on Air Serbia announcement, that will operate flights to LJU with B733, there was even one day no flights with ATR. I don't know why they fly twice a day because if I look both flights morning from BEG 51 and from LJU 42 passengers, evening flight from BEG 42 and back 32 passengers. Its look like that even ATR72 is too big for this route. I don't know why two flights per day.
Delete^^^
DeleteThose loads given for LJU is profitable with the ATR72.
it makes sense for JP having CRJ 900//700 (not for short routes of course like ZRH/MUC/VIE/SJJ etc) but apart from that it has enough range to reach any destination in Adria's network.for example, if you have on certain day only up to 80 pax each way it surely makes more sense to fly LJU-SVO-LJU with a full CRJ900 than an empty A319.this gives flexibility to JP as they are changing type of the aircraft according to demand.for example, AMS might not see so many pax so usually it makes sense to fly CRJ900, but from time to time there is need for a bigger aircraft.
DeleteNB, there is a BIG difference between CRJ200&900, as CRJ 900 is much much more efficient.

OT: from January, 1st new start for the Alitalia Etihad adventure. I am curious about the livery, they are supposed to refresh it.
DeleteINN-NS
By the way, starting from 03.01.2015, Helvetic will be flying once a week between BEG and ZRH with their Embraer jets.
ReplyDeleteSo is this route gonna be an addition to existing SWISS schedule or this Embraer would just substitute SWISS planes once a week?
DeleteSeems logical to be an addition, since it is being started in the middle of holidays period.
It's a replacement but it won't be operated every month. Swiss usually send its A320 from Zurich so I guess we will be seeing it as often as we saw their Fokker.. that is not very often.

ReplyDeleteFrom Nov 28 ExYuAv post: Serbian Civil Aviation Directorate has said it will sign a final version of the new Bilateral Air Service Agreement in the coming weeks.
Exactly 4 weeks has passed. Can Exyu please follow up with DCV before they go on a break? Future of longhaul flights depends on it and ball is in DCV's court. Thanks!
Memorandum is still being processed by US authorities.
ReplyDeleteThis most likely means they are out of office until Jan 5. Once US side okays it and DCV signs it, what are "legislative bodies" on the US side that need to sign it? I am wondering if this agreement may be delayed as a result of US partisan bickering of any sorts? Thanks!
DeleteActually, the bickering is between the FAA and the State Department. The latter is being an ass regarding the definition of what constitutes Serbia. FAA doesn't care and if it were up to them we would have gotten the green light months ago.
DeleteUs government is basically closed from 25th to January 2nd. All the delays are on their side.
DeleteRight, that was mentioned before. I thought that was resolved with de facto recognition of Kosovo? There was also news somewhere on support (I think from US Embassy?) for this approval if I am not mistaken, so why the disconnect?
DeleteThe FAA complained from day one that it was held back by the State Department.
DeleteNo, I meant disconnect between Michael Kirby's perceived public support for the agreement and mentioned opposition of his superiors at the State Dept. Approval seems to be in the US interest and it would do wonders for Kirby's charm offensive in Serbia. Is it time for Air Serbia's airline partners to lobby in Washington DC?

ReplyDeletegood for adria, more routes like that would improve its chance for further expansion
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice the 3 747F that visited Belgrade today?
ReplyDeleteDamn, there is one more coming tomorrow!
DeleteThe Russian bird came from Moscow and is still in Rzeszow. It was supposed to fly to Baghdad.
DeleteAdria should try Frankfurt to Nis. Now would be a good time because Nis airport is being upgraded with ILS and other infrastructure in accordance with the agreements with Wizz. Adria could then fight back a bit against Air Serbia, and Lufthansa would benefit too.
ReplyDeleteILS will arrive in 2016. :(
DeleteWell, it's going to happen within 6 months. As they need to have it before WZZ starts flying to BSL...
