Belgrade Airport's privatisation process advances

NEWS FLASH

The Serbian government has formed a commission to analyse a proposal made by France’s Lazard Freres, acting as Belgrade Airport's privatisation advisor, concerning the airport's strategic development model and will monitor its implementation. The commission, which is being chaired by Serbia's Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlović, will also advise the government to adopt necessary documentation in order launch required procedures outlined in the selected development model. Lazard Freres will suggest for the airport to be either fully privatised or put up for concession. No firm timeframe has been given for the completion of the process, although the Serbian Prime Minister had previously expressed hope for the procedure to be finalised by the end of the year.

The decision will be political not economical at all. The French are blackmailing the government to block EU membership if they dont get concession for a bargain.
