Belgrade to open de-icing platform in January

NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will complete work on a 21.000 square metre de-icing platform next month. Located near the entry-way to runway 12, the platform has the capacity to cater for two narrow-body or one wide-body aircraft, including the Airbus A380. The platform includes underground storage for de-icing fluid and can accommodate all necessary equipment. The de-icing platform will reduce holdover time, speed up aircraft movement and ease congestion at the gates. The project, valued at 4.8 million euros, also includes the extension of the taxiways which lead to the platform.

Wasn't it meant to cater for up to 4 aircraft at one time?

2 can be de iced at the same time and another two can be in line. 4 in total.

If two can be de-iced at the same time, then that's two in total. Doesn't matter how many aircraft are waiting in line.

Anon 12:53 Why to stop only with two aircrafts in line, better have 10 aircrafts in line, so we can say the capacity is 12 aircrafts?

The only problem is that existing runway cannot stand A380, but still...

It's according to official and published specifications of LYBE in AIP. A380 is heavy too much.

Are you telling us that BEG is not capable of handling A/C that ZAG can handle ? Asking that because 3 years ago, Antonov A225 Mriya, freighter, the biggest plane in the World, significantly bigger and heavier than A380, landed and took-off at ZAG (carriying some Koncar generators to Asia)

BEG has capabilities for A380 to land and to take off. BEG runaway is 3200m long and 45m wide and weight of aircraft is not problem, the only thing is that after landing and taking off they need to do security test for safety reasons....

Only difference between BEG and ZAG is that BEG doesnt have airbridge to connect building and aircraft who has longer wings then 64m and ZAG has airbridge for B747-800, not for A380.

So please, do your research before you write something here...

    Thanks
