Qatar Airways has confirmed it will go ahead with the planned launch of its flights to Skopje and Sarajevo despite the ongoing diplomatic crisis surrounding Qatar. Speaking at the Paris Air Show, Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar al-Baker, said, "We will respond to the blockade by shifting spare capacity to other destinations and accelerating plans for new destinations such as Skopje, Dublin and Sarajevo". He added that new routes to Iran, which had been delayed because of a shortage of capacity, will be brought forward. The Qatari carrier will launch services from Doha to Skopje on July 17 but is yet to schedule flights to Sarajevo. However, it is now believed the route will commence in late October.
