NEWS FLASH
Turkey's AtlasGlobal has confirmed it will no longer operate flights from Istanbul's Ataturk Airport to Sarajevo. The service, which was launched in June, was initially planned to run throughout the year, but was downgraded to seasonal summer operations in November. However, the Turkish carrier has now taken the decision to discontinue all flights to the Bosnian capital and will not return in 2018. Ticket sales have been suspended and Sarajevo removed from the airline's destination network. The carrier faced strong competition on the route from Turkish Airlines, which maintains flights from Ataturk Airport, as well as Pegasus Airlines, which flies from Istanbul's Sabiha Gokcen Airport. AtlasGlobal's only other destination in the former Yugoslavia is Belgrade, to which it maintains year-round flights.
Why?
ReplyDeleteHow are the Belgrade flights performing?
ReplyDeleteIt would seem very well. They send A321s regularly.
DeleteI wonder how can they make it in Belgrade and not in Sarajevo? Because of codeshare with JU or ... ?
ReplyDeletewho says they can make BEG work?
DeleteThe fact that they fly there several times per week with a mix of A320 and A321 planes. They also started codesharing on flights from Belgrade to New York among others.
DeleteAnon 3:31 (who also posted at 2:36) is just a sad hater consumed by bitterness.
DeleteThe reason why KK couldn't make Sarajevo work is simply an overwhelming competition and the number of flights from TK and PC. In Belgrade they face tough but still less fierce competition (PC is in fact very weak on the Belgrade route) plus they codeshare with JU. That seems to be the winning formula for them.
Again expected, Turkish and Pegasus have a shitload of flights to SJJ, Atlas just couldn't compete with them
ReplyDeleteThey can't compete with TK, as they sell their tickets 20-30€ cheaper than Tk. And for the price of 30€ you get much, much better service with TK.
