TUIfly to end Sarajevo operations

NEWS FLASH

TUIfly will not resume its seasonal summer flights between Charleroi in Belgium and the Bosnian capital next year. The leisure carrier launched the service in April and maintained operations until late October. However, the airline does not plan to return in 2018. Charleroi Airport serves as the low cost alternative to Brussels. Sarajevo is one of the rare European capitals without a nonstop service to Belgium. TUIfly has announced plans to launch new flights to Croatia, Montenegro and Macedonia next year.

Sad. Sarajevo is really falling behind, I have no idea why, they have a strong diaspora ...

    1. I do not know how the brand is pronounced in Belgium. Here in Germany, TUI is known more as a holiday brand. I would never guess that a TUI airline flies to Sarajevo. On the track I would rather guess flagcarrier than TUI.

    2. maybe not enough advertising has been done to lure the diaspora to charleroi

The flight is not that short so costs are high. Airport is not that cheap. People are not that wealthy. Not that many weekly frequencies.

Seems like both Serbia and Bosnia struggle to sustain flights to Belgium. I guess French and Dutch airports are just too close. Maybe W6's flight from EIN to TZL killed this route?!

I dont know why Sarajevo is behind every major airport in ex yu.Their network is so small and have just few airlines.Carriers are canceling flights. No flights to London, Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Moscow. The list is long...Demand is there but what is going on?I know fees are high but so are in BEG, ZAG, TGD...I am really sorry for citizens of Sarajevo they dont deserve airport like that. And what are they going to do whit reconstructed terminal if they have poor network.
