NEWS FLASH
Low cost carrier Volotea is further expanding its operations to Croatia next summer with the introduction of a two weekly seasonal summer service between Athens and Dubrovnik. Flights between the two cities will commence on April 27 and run each Wednesday and Saturday until August 31 with the carrier's 125-seat Boeing 717 aircraft. It will become Volotea's fifth new route to Croatia in 2019 following the recently announced services to Split, Dubrovnik, Pula and Rijeka. The no frills carrier will compete directly against Croatia Airlines and Aegean Airlines on the Athens - Dubrovnik flights. Details for the new service can be found here.
This is good news for DBV however I am concerned about the news I read lately that the town has become the victim of its own success.
ReplyDeleteIt has the same problems that Barcelona and Prague have for example:
Massive tourism, drunk tourists, noise pollution, extremely high prices and packed city centre.
And this is just the beginning of a complicated era for Dubrovnik.
This is the Adriatic jewel but it's now too late to hold back as the airport will soon handle 5 million pax , let alone ground and sea transport.

ReplyDeleteVolotea Airlines ima veoma kvalitetnu flotu aviona tipa Mcdonell Douglas95(rebrendirani kao Boeing717-200)i veoma dobru i pozitivnu posadu aviona.

DeleteMy guess is that OU won't be bringing back their own DBV-ATH.
ReplyDeleteYep, with A3 flying daily and V7 joining them OU with a flight that makes a stop in ZAG is dead in the water.
DeleteOn the ZAG-ATH sector they will also be hard pressed to compete with the Greeks.
They should have started regular flights to ATH years ago, when A3 was out of the picture and all traffic was going through VIE and BEG.
Now it is too late.

I wonder if a 'survivor' technique would be to introduce ZAG-ATH-DBV-ATH-ZAG.
DeleteIf they were smart they would do the same with FCO as a defense mechanism against any future competition on this market.
ali ipak McDonnell-Douglas95 je puno bolji avion ima kvalitetnije Rolls-Royce motore koji su veoma efikasni i mocni.
