NEWS FLASH
The Croatian Minister for Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković, has hinted that Croatia Airlines' various divisions could be divided and sold off separately to increase the carrier's privatisation prospects. Mr Butković noted that "several scenarios" were in play and being considered. The minister believes that a special committee will be formed today at a government session which would, together with the company's management, work on finding a strategic partner. The management board should soon select a financial adviser who should offer models that could be applied to find a future partner. Mr Butković noted that foreign investors have expressed their interest in the airline.

DeleteSo they will sell what can be sold and the rest will be let go... shut down. This is best indication that the government is getting ready to shut down OU if no solution is found... fast.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more
Deletei am quite sure in case of not finding strategic partner, ou will continue existing at least only with dash's
Deletethere is demand ..
Maybe there is demand but there are no good enough yields.
DeleteJatovanje!

DeleteThere is plenty of demand for flights, the problem is the route network fails to deliver a profit. I would say they have 300 staff too many!
ReplyDeleteThere is of course demand but there is also competition which takes care of it since OU doesn't care.
DeleteAdria scenario...
ReplyDeleteCroatia Airlines will never disappear, it will be revamped at best, or remain status quo at worst. But no Croatian government will ever allow its demise (national pride), they are just incompetent and will throw money at the problem infinitely, similar to what the Serbian goverment is doing with YU. All will be OK!
ReplyDeleteYou mean with JU ad not YU?
DeleteYU was international abbrevation for Yugoslavia
The Serbian government still throw money at Air Serbia!
Delete^ I don't get your comment exactly. How is it any different from what 12.45 wrote?
DeleteWhere's the Bravo Hrvatska guy today?
ReplyDeleteI wonder the same!?
DeleteYou are such sexist. How do you know it's a guy!
DeleteThere are two key issues here:
ReplyDeleteFirst, the Minister is clearly under capacitated.
Second, but more important, he is also very influential party member but not of the Prime minister’s circle. This privatization is just a battle of the internal party wars, where PM is hoping that it will fail so badly (and it WILL fail, one way or another) that the Minister gets discredited, same as the Minister of Defence in fighter jets scandal. I'm afraid Croatia Airlines is here just the victim and their future with this Government is not bright at all.
it was a very interesting conversation to watch. butković was giving a short briefing to the news guys in the street.
ReplyDeleteeverything was okay until one journo said "not all parts of the company worth the same, maybe split up the company and sell it like that?"
butković agitatedly replied: " i see that you are well informed" and stormed off
Bravo Hrvatska!
