NEWS FLASH
Croatia Airlines is in the process of installing Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADS–B) technology on board its aircraft, with the process to be completed during the first half of next year. ADS-B is a surveillance technology in which an aircraft determines its position via satellite navigation and periodically broadcasts it, enabling it to be tracked. The information can be received by air traffic control ground stations as a replacement for a secondary surveillance radar. It can also be received by other aircraft to provide situational awareness and allow self-separation. Croatia Airlines has started upgrading its Dash 8 and Airbus fleets in mid-2018 in order to meet a worldwide deadline set out by the European Aviation Safety Agency. Some 20% of the installation cost will be covered by the European Commission under the Connecting Europe Facility program. In a statement, Croatia Airlines said, "New technologies, such as ADS-B, will find their place in the Croatian air traffic control system in the near future. Upgrading ADS-B OUT functionality on Croatia Airlines aircraft could accelerate the installation of new terrestrial ADS-B stations in Croatia and thus further develop the European air traffic". It added, "As a part of the European ATM Master Plan, the implementation of ADS-B OUT on the Dasu 8 and Airbus fleet will have direct and measurable benefits for European air traffic management ".
Wau, European air traffic management can now relax, since Croatian planes will be fitted with ADS-B.
ReplyDeleteCroatia Airlines saves the day :)
How about CPDLC capability, CA ?
Compared to JU's 737, this is state-of-the-art space technology.
DeleteOU's Airbus aircraft will probably be retired before 2022, and the DH8D is not required to have it at all.
JP is as always far behind, no ADS-B and except Airbus, all their other aircraft are exempt from CPDLC.
JU has 2 operational B737s and from next week 12 Airbus aircraft all of which have to have this technology.
