PHOTOS: FlyBosnia launches Gassim service

NEWS FLASH

FlyBosnia inaugurated services between Sarajevo and Gassim in central Saudi Arabia yesterday evening, linking the two cities for the first time. The one weekly service will operate seasonally until August 27. A dozen airlines maintain flights to Gassim, mostly from the Middle East and North Africa. Sulaiman bin Abdullah Al-Shiddi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Al-Shiddi Group, which owns FlyBosnia, said, "The number of Saudi tourists to Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased significantly over the past three years. Last year's figures stood at 25.000, compared to 15.000 in 2018 and 7.000 the year before. One of the obstacles to growth are visas, however, considerable efforts have been made by officials in Saudi Arabia and Bosnia in this respect. For example, the visa fee has been reduced from 1.000 riyals to 400, which is a reasonable price". He added, "Arab tourists, including those from the Gulf, have not fully discovered Bosnia and Herzegovina. The number of Saudi travellers who have visited Bosnia and Herzegovina is around 35%. The rest are unaware of this important European country, full of beauty, heritage and scenic views".

17:00, nije u pitanju jedna aviokompanija, nego njih 5-6.

  3. This balkan is madness, i don't even get this.
FlyBosnia inaugurated services between Sarajevo and Gassim in central Saudi Arabia yesterday evening, linking the two cities for the first time. How many people in B&H even heard for the city placed in central Saudi Arabia called Gassim. Weird AF.

It's not crazy, you just dont understand whole story.
This airline doesn't care about (most of) BH citizens. It has purpose of transporting Saudis for holidays in country that has religiously "approved" hotels and establishments while providing opportunity for some "unapproved" fun for the rich ones. Simply as that:)

    2. Why the f** is it called flybosnia then. Oh yeah to represent the country to the world. Not only arabia. They should rename the airline tot Flyalshiddi or flyarab

You guys dont understand some basic principles of business. Yes, it's true, arabs love to have halal food everywhere, hotels with halal food etc.. But if that brings profit, whats the problem? Same like ElAl Israel has only khoser food, we are not in socialism anymore, private owners are allowed to maintain their own policy, and at the end state has its piece of cake from taxes... Its called tourism. Thank you.

    5. @AviationEUROPE - why would anyone name their airline by the name of their destination/s?

I dont see what is issue with comments about this. It's just a real thing, explaining business model, type of passengers, etc.
I dont understand why are local guys so sensitive about it. Comments even were not malicious but just giving whole picture about airline, target customer, local infrastructure, etc.

This is an excellent business decision. They fly them in, provide them hotels, restaurants, guides, shopping experience and then fly them back home. These SA guys spend twice as much comparing to an average foreign tourist in Croatia. If they manage to bring in 100K, this should directly generate around 100M EUR. In average they spend around 1000 EUR per person in BiH. This is an excellent opportunity to make money. In addition, if I were the owner of a new airline business, I would start with destinations like this. This is where you test your systems and crew at the cost of tourists. Europe can be served only when you are ready for it. In terms of tourism, BiH needs to start learning from the best in this field. BiH has to learn from Croatia. This portal has tendency to turn into something I do not expect when it comes to jealousy on someone's success to make money out of sand.
