NEWS FLASH
Split Airport has failed to open its new passenger terminal on time. The airport said it would welcome the first travellers inside the new facility by the end of June. No reason has been given for the delay, nor a new date for its opening.
The delay comes at a time Split Airport saw its busiest June on record. It handled 513.706 passengers through its doors, representing an increase of 8.2%. During the first half of the year, Split Airport handled 1.102.118 travellers, up 8%. It added an extra 81.490 passengers on the same period last year.

DeleteIf you are not able to note that Bravo Hrvatska guy posts Hrvatska with capital H, then you should refrain from trying to be funny as well. Btw making big deal of few days even couple of months missed deadline in Split says more about you than about actual opening. And I wouldn't dare even to think what would your funny comment be in case of Berlin Brandenburg for example, if you know at all what I am talking about
PIR, no need for refresh lessons on Berlin , probably everyone on this forum can recall history that far back?! As for H or h sharpen your sense of humor and have fun! "h" was there on purpose!
DeleteLighten up Pozdrav. You get triggered so easily.
DeleteYou read me last Anon. LOL!! I do get "triggered" easily. It's my personality and I can't and don't want to change it. But it lasts 5 minutes, the most LOL!!! Ciao
DeleteCiao indeed.
DeleteTake a look at the numbers in April, it says 154K pax, and folks still talking about the seasonality in Croatia, what season is in April?
ReplyDeleteOr in May 310K pax , what season is in May ?
Deleteit was often empty in both months
Deletetry this: open your calendar app and swipe left to May and April and display public and school holidays; can you see how SPU traffice matches perfectly the holidays?
pro tip: change your country/language settings before, if it is still on sr.
Zagreb 337 K passengers
ReplyDeleteSplit 513 K PASSENGERS
Dubrovnik 416 K passengers
Zadar 124 K passengers
PULA 136 K passengers
Total number of passengers in June for Croatia is 1,5 million
Great results for Croatian airports! Congrats! Can't wait for the new terminal in Split to finally open!
DeleteCroatia keeps winning!
DeleteActually, when you add 31k for Rijeka, it's closer to 1.6m :)
DeleteWe (Dejan, Milica and little Teodora) were this 6 people in June (513.70'6'), coming from BEG and continuing, couple day later, to ZRH :)
ReplyDeleteNice one :)
DeleteO.K. So what went wrong? and Why they missed the deadline?
ReplyDeleteHow about highly incompetent management? They have lost even a cleaning service in the peak of the tourist season. So the new terminal is incomplete and the old one is getting dirtier by the minute. Not to mention the runway that is falling apart and the fact that very little has been done to progress with runway extension and taxiways to be created. One full misery of the airport management.
DeleteMaybe I am wrong, but as far as I know, salaries at SPU airport are not only decent, but really nice, and much higher than average If one department, easily replaceable by outsourcing,
Deletechooses to blackmail and strike in peak season, and management does not want to increase the costs by raising their salaries, I wouldn't call it bad management. On the contrary. And brand new terminal, financed by OWN money, no foreign investments and "investments", concessions or "concessions" is nothing, everyone could do it, but opening deadline missed be whole five days, wow what a proof of incompetence. And btw how competent are you to comment on this?
Well as for the runway judging by it's current length I would guess they would add less than 500 meters when extending and remodeling.
DeleteThe (almost) second busiest airport in former Yugoslavia. Well done SPU! Reaching the levels of regional, European airports.
ReplyDeleteThey failed the inspection mid june. The second inspection was at the end of june i think they passed and they said that it will open 12.7 but who knows..
