Belgrade Airport introduces lost baggage tracking

NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has introduced a new service for passengers whose bags are lost during their journey. After filing a claim for missing luggage at the airport, passengers will be given an electronic baggage tracking code, which they can use to monitor the status of their lost belongings in real-time. This is achieved by entering the code through the airport’s website. “In 2018, only 0.67% of all passengers arriving at Belgrade Airport reported delayed baggage. The success rate for found baggage is 99%. The moment the bags arrive at the airport, they are delivered to the owner’s address within one day free of charge”, the airport said in a statement.

Is this the same as BagJourney Air Serbia introduced back in 2017? Both use SITA WorldTracer solution:

i am not sure why they are proud to report a 0.67% rate. That is more than one piece of luggage for each arrival, and if one has to fly every month, one know that one gets hit sooner than later

"The moment the bags arrive at the airport, they are delivered to the owner’s address within one day free of charge”, the airport said in a statement." is pure marketing. I had delayed luggage in July and last September, and would have been delighted if they had delivered that fast; maybe they could do that in Belgrade, but they are not even attempting that for others, and do not count Saturday and Sunday as days

What's the percentage at YOUR airport? If you had any knowledge you would know it's not bad at all for a hub/transfer airport, BEG is doing fine and rates are going down. Exactly the same solution is used by your loving LH. Problems are not at BEG but at crappy airports not using WorldTracer, as you need both ends using the system to be effective.

How Air Serbia lost your luggage?
As far as I understood, luggage is usual lost by handler at airport not airline?

Try flying via FRA and then you'll know what mess really is.

That is one bag for each 150 bags carried.

If they are to carry 6 million people, for the sake of math, they would displace 40.000 bags :))) That is 3.333 per month, 111 per day, or slightly under 5 each hour, one every 12 minutes or so :)

Nice! The nice people at CDG lost mine baggage from DTW last winter (along with everybody else's who came from USA). BEG shipped it 5 days later with a courier, but it would have been nice to track it along the way.

Well, your ticket includes your baggage transport, so its the carrier to blame for delayed baggage. Additionally, your compensation claim for the delayed baggage is sent to a carrier, not to handler. As a passenger, I'm not interested in carrier-handler relationship.

But you do understand that in most cases airline is not in touch with your luggage until it is boarded into plane, neither they can choose handler at airport?

Baggage Claim reference: SOFJU12042; name: mermersky
Hello, came across this post while searching for delayed luggage assistance at Belgrade airport. I flew from Oslo thru Belgrade to Sofia, BG, July 25 on Air Serbia flight. One of my bags was not transferred and is still at Belgrade airport. I have an Air Tag and can see it and exact location. I am in daily contact with the delayed luggage office at Sofia airport they told me that cannot reach anyone at Belgrade airport and to look for "connections" who can put my luggage on a flight to Sofa. Air Serbia ticket office in Sofia told me that it is not their job... As of today, Aug 2 2022 my luggage is still at the Belgrade airport, there are flights to Sof on Aug 4th, 5th and 7th. I sent emails to baggageservices@airserbia.com, lostandfound@beg.aero and all came back with an error message "mail box full" my claim is still showing luggage has not been located, which is ironic since i can see it myself that its at the airport. Any advice will be much appreciated. Claim reference: SOFJU12042; name: mermersky thank you!

Belgrade airport is the worst. They loose 50% of the luggage and do not even bother to do anything.
