NEWS FLASH
Croatia Airlines has successfully completed the project of installing EGNOS equipment on its Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. This enables the turboprops to use the satellite signal of the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) and to facilitate landing using the Localiser Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) approach procedure. The LPV approach is a satellite-guided precision landing approach which is identical to the conventional Instrument Landing System (ILS) approach, but requires state-of-the-art aircraft equipment capable of simultaneously using the GPS and the EGNOS satellite signal. Valued at over 670.000 euros, the installation of the new equipment was cofinanced by the European Union.
Nice. I believe the EU has set a deadline for this technology to be installed by the end of this year for all airlines in EU-member states.
ReplyDeleteYou are wrong. Many new airliners still can't be equipped with EGNOS/LPV.
