NEWS FLASH
Montenegro Airlines will commence a one weekly flight between Podgorica and Lisbon this summer. As previously reported, Istanbul is also being considered by the airline. Services to the Portuguese capital will commence on June 22 and run each Monday until September 21. Further flight details can be viewed here. It will mark the first time Podgorica and Lisbon have been linked with a nonstop scheduled air service.
Montenegro keeps winning!
ReplyDeleteEven if the route is not profitable? Montenegro taxpayers keep losing.
DeleteMontenegro won what exactly?
DeleteThey won better connectivity with the world, now who wants to visit Portugal doesn't have to connect in Istanbul or Vienna.
DeleteThat's not a win. That's business.
DeleteKeep in mind that noone goes to LIS on 7 days...
DeleteAnd business can't be winning? o,O
DeleteAnon 12.15 true but they do go for 2 weeks!
DeleteOne flight a week is hardly a winning.
DeleteIt's still 100% more compared to what they had last summer. I call that a win!
DeleteConvenient math.
DeleteSeems like you call lot of things a win.
Expensive long flight, only once a week, no codeshare, no connections. It will make hole deeper by a few hundred thousand euros. Nice win!
DeleteTarget group??
ReplyDeleteNice! Schedule time looks quite similar to Bulgaria Air and Air Moldova. It´s actually a very smart move to make the airplane work during the night instead of sitting on the tarmac all night long. This is all thanks to the Portugal 1 hour difference too.
ReplyDeleteI love Portugal's one hour difference
DeleteWOW! Good job, Montenegro!
ReplyDeleteNot Istanbul? They had announced their intentions for Lisbon and Istanbul.
ReplyDeleteThis is so random.
ReplyDeleteThey can offer connections not only to TIV but also to BEG.
ReplyDeleteSo the potential customer base for this route is greatly increased.
So true, who doesn't love spending time at TGD from 01.20 to like 06.20.
DeleteI don't see how will they offer connections to TIV when they don't fly between TGD and TIV?
DeleteNot only is YM the only true legacy carrier in ex-YU but they are also extremely proactive. Good for them!
ReplyDeleteYeah, OK.
DeleteAnd the most organised carrier in ex-YU with clear vision and strategy. Not to mention the state-of-the-art fleet which is mono and distinguishable.
DeletePlus most beautiful, creative uniforms in the region.
Deleteplus 150 mil € xmas present from mne gov
DeleteFirst thing customers look for when buying a ticket: creative uniform! Said no one ever.
DeleteIf uniforms did not matter then airlines wouldn't be spending so much time and effort to make good and nice ones. It's all part of brand awareness, look it up.
DeleteOf uniforms did matter as much as you claim, Ryanair and Wizzair would have invested hundreds of millions to create most amazing uniforms. But they don't matter much, so Ryan and Wizz focus on something Montenegro Airlines don't think about: profits.
DeleteWizz revised their uniforms a year or a two ago when they made them slightly more sophisticated. You can do both, be profitable and good looking. Same way airlines try to have nice and interesting liveries. It's all PR.
DeleteIt is true that YM has one of the most elegant cabin crew uniforms in the region:

That said, anon 15:53 raised a very positive feedback. He is absolutely right when airlines actually do care for their staff and invest in the airline culture, logo, look and general vision.
If you look closer at the YM uniform you immediately spot the Montenegro heritage: flag, the red colour present and the yellow representing the sun. The design itself doesn't seem to be overwhelming. It's all a matter of details and sophistication.
There have been airlines that had better service, better liveries and fancier uniforms yet went bankrupt. Show me an airline ticket search website that has "airline uniform" as a search field, and I'll believe TGD-LIS route will be profitable.
DeleteFlying this route ONCE per week has no sense. I do not get it ...
ReplyDeleteMakes sense if they are selling seats to a tour operator.
DeleteI think this is very bad news for Star Alliance who are currently charging 480€ return ticket TGD-LIS!
ReplyDeleteCrazy!
