NEWS FLASH
Low cost carrier Wizz Air has delayed its resumption of flights from Belgrade until May 1 as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19. The carrier initially planned to resume operations from the base on April 13. Belgrade Airport remains closed for commercial flights. Air Serbia continues to sell tickets for services from Belgrade starting April 13. Wizz Air currently maintains operations only from Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. The airline has indicated it may completely suspend all flights.
No matter how massive their cash reserves are, no one can handle this crisis easily. Look at DL, one of the most profitable airlines in the world and overnight they had to ask for help.
ReplyDeleteThe fact they asked doesn't mean they HAD to ;)
DeleteBut they did. Cancellations overtook the number of bookings. They burned through their reserves overnight. A friend of mine flew on UA from LAX to Hawaii and they were 15 on the 772.
Delete@exyuaviation What is your source for this news. They still have flights on sale for 15April from Belgrade to Malmo

It was announced by Wizz Air in a statement.
Maybe MMX is the only route they plan on resuming that early? Sweden is behaving very irresponsibly with the virus so I am sure they won't be closing down their airports any time soon.
DeleteNo, they just haven't updated their site yet. Ryanair was selling tickets between Montenegro and Italy for days after Montenegro banned all Italy flights.
Delete"Sweden is behaving very irresponsibly with the virus"
DeleteSwedes are the most risk-averse nation in the world. They just didn't submit to the mass hysteria.
whatever, Malmö is Schengen and Schengen is closed for now
DeleteWhat do you mean closed? It's not closed, there are flights in and out of Schengen!
DeleteMass hysteria? the deaths in Italy are the result of mass hysteria? no. They decided to go for the money, not for human lives.
DeleteThose deaths are much less than people dying from other causes.
DeleteEven May 1st is optimistic, and certainly if flights resume by then from BEG, it most definitely not be to those countries like Sweden, Germany, Switz, Italy, France and Spain who are currently in a death spiral as far as the spread of this virus goes.
ReplyDeleteHope flights resume soon.
