NEWS FLASH
The expansion of Niš Constantine the Great Airport’s terminal building has begun with work expected to be completed in 2022. The expanded facility will have a capacity to handle 1.5 million passengers per year and feature four departure gates, enabling the airport to handle four aircraft simultaneously. The expanded part of the facility will have two levels and will be used for departures, while the existing building will be used for arrivals. The project also includes the expansion of the apron, overhaul of the runway and the construction of a control tower. The Serbian government last week declared the project of special importance. Under the country’s new lex specialis law for infrastructure development, the project will be expediated. The investment in Niš Airport’s upgrade is valued at twelve million euros.
Wow first BEG and now INI. This is beyond spectacular. Let's hope Wizz announced more flights soon. We deserve it.
ReplyDeletejedva cekam da elita kop pocne sa pripremnim radovima!
ReplyDeleteNice !! Bravo Serbia :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Hope to see more flights from INI soon.
ReplyDeleteRegards from Zagreb
Has anyone else noticed how all flights from BEG and INI on Wizz Air are delayed today? This is not good, what will they do when traffic numbers go back to normal.
ReplyDeleteIt's like that because of new corona regulations in Serbia require every single plane to be fumigated after every single flight. W6 has short turn around times so flights are delayed because this takes 10-15 min.
DeleteINI is quickly taking advantage of the SKP reductions and reacting fast to attract more traffic in the region.By 2024 both airports are expected to have the same traffic.
ReplyDeleteParanoia 2018: government would kick out LCCs and shut down the airport. No construction will ever happen at INI. BEG is limiting INI to 1 million.
ReplyDeleteReality 2020: INI had a record 2019, new terminal has a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year and prep work for construction has started.

DeleteThe opposition use fear mongering stories like that all the time. I flew out of INI last year on the TIV deal and it was great! Plus the local businesses/Airbnbs where I stayed in Nis told me that the increased flights brought many more tourists curious to visit the town.
Exactly, you can see from official statistics that tourism numbers in the south are on the rise once again. The south will rise again. It's only a matter of time when and how long it takes.
