Emirates has confirmed it will resume operations between Dubai and Zagreb at the start of the 2021 summer season, while the airline will maintain all of its 143 pre-Covid routes next year. “We can easily say, by summer 2021, we’ll be serving 100% of our network destinations”, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer, Adel al-Redha, said. He added, “Obviously the frequency of flights per day will depend on the demand and some of the restrictions that we will need to unwind from some airports and some countries. But in terms of the airline network planning, by summer 2021 we’ll be covering 143 destinations”. Emirates does not plan to operate its seasonal summer service to Zagreb this year. Flydubai, which replaces Emirates on the route over the winter, has scheduled flights to the Croatian capital from late October but has said it is yet to make a final decision on whether the service will go ahead. The 2021 summer season begins on March 28.

I would not bet my money, the statement does not sound convincing at all.

DeleteMost analysts agree demand won't recover by next spring. Flydubai might have to service Zagreb instead of Emirates for a while.
ReplyDeleteI dont think theyll restart ZAG. 143 destinations is not 100% of their network, so something is either misquoted or Adel al-Redha is misinforming the public. Many EK outstation staff have been made redundant, including ZAG. Several destinations have been terminated and more is to come. Not to mention that around 40% of crew have been made redundant, a third round of redundancies has started after offering unpaid leave for the next 4 months.
ReplyDeleteQuite optimistic, specially regarding today's news about Qantas, that does not expect to be flying any international routes before the second half of next year, except possibly to New Zealand.
