NEWS FLASH
Swiss International Air Lines will resume flights between Zurich and Ljubljana on March 28 after more than a year. The Swiss carrier will operate a daily service between the two cities with an Embraer E190 jet wet-leased from Helvetic Airways. All flights depart Switzerland’s largest city in the late afternoon, with exception to the Sunday service which will operate in the morning. There will be two flights operated on April 4 due to the Easter holidays, with one of the two run by the Airbus A220 aircraft. Overall, Swiss will maintain 218 fligthts to Ljubljana this summer (both directions included) and has 24.429 seats on sale between the two cities.
Is it the start connected with the subventions too?
ReplyDeleteWill they resume the flights or just the sales?
ReplyDeleteBrilliant news, I absolutely love when our LJU keeps on improving!
ReplyDeleteLJU improving? Is this a joke?
DeleteThis must be sarcasm :)
DeleteWell did you read the article? Airlines are finally restoring flights which is brilliant news.
Deletethat depends from which corner you are looking at. If we are realistic, even with those flight (if they wont cancel it once again) LJU will have really poor schedule. And those afternoon flights will not improve connectivity in any way..
DeleteDaily ZRH service is excellent news for LJU!
ReplyDeleteDeparture time is good maybe only for p2p ... impossible for transfers ...
DeleteWhat is the current schedule?
DeleteWeekdays + Saturday: ZRH-LJU / 17:30-18:40; LJU-ZRH / 19:40-20:55
DeleteSunday: ZRH-LJU / 8:45-9:55; LJU-ZRH / 10:35-11:50
ABSOLUTELY USELESS! I estimate LF to be very bad. When I travelled the route in the past, most of the pax were transfers at ZRH.
Probably you travelled with JP as LX had always this disastrous schedule. I can't understand why don't they depart out of LJU in the morning, they have plenty of aircrafts parked at LJU...
DeleteNo, traveled with LX after the collapse of JP. I recall their departure from LJU at the time was around 2pm, which still provided some connecting options. I take your last sentence is meant as irony, right.
DeleteMany thanks Ingvarsson. Yep, sadly I have to agree with you. But, I think those Sunday morning departures are most likely North American connections and those evening arrivals to ZRH intended for the Asian market. Most LX flights depart to Asia in the evening especially to Japan but also to JNB and GRU.
DeleteYesssss........ Hvala LX
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope Slovenian government will not subsidize such a poor schedule. Makes no sense.
ReplyDelete+1
Deletethere should be condition regarding time zone if they want to get incentives. To have a flight does not mean much if timing is crap...
LX is part of LH group, so the LX timetable should be seen in context of the whole group and not as a standalone company. In that context there will be departures from LJU to LH group hubs finely distributed over the whole day: 7:00 LH to FRA, 11:50 LH to FRA, 14:25 LH to FRA, 16:15 SN to BR, 19:40 LX to ZHR.
Delete16:15 SN to BRU :)
Delete@16:56
Delete+1000 correct
The LH Group usually do:
06:00 - City-MUC (LH)
07:00 - City-FRA (LH)
08:00 - City - VIE (OS)
Afternoon: same flights but including:
16:00 - City-BRU (SN)
17:00 - City-ZRH (LX)
And not to mention the role of EW as an additional feeder or O&D traffic.
Mama Lufti knows how to take care of her kids :)
It's really strange that they are not doing the same on all other airports. The fact for that poor schedule is that LJU is totally unimportant to LH group and they will place flights where they have gap in their schedule.
DeleteAnon 21:55, please, specify which flights are put just "where they have gap in their schedule" and have no logic in their overall schedule. I have 3 tickets for the end of June and first half of July and their schedule works perfectly fine with short connections to my other European flights, e.g. LJU-FRA-ARN/ARN-LJU-FRA, LJU-ZRH-LIS/LIS-FRA-LJU, LJU-FRA-CPH/CPH-ZRH-LJU. All very reasonably priced. I just hope that their schedule will stay like this.
DeleteThe talk is about LX at LJU, not LH. Can you provide departure/arrival days/times for your LJU-ZRH-LIS flight? I bet it is Sunday/Sunday? Any other day of the week simply won’t work with LX. If anyhing, you are just confirming what other have said before.
DeleteNo, we are not talking about LX, we are talking about combined LH group in LJU as Anon 16:56 already explained. The dates for LX flights are not on Sunday, exact date for LJU-LIS is July 01, and for CPH-LJU is July 12. Now is your turn: please, provide data for the useless of the combined LH group schedule from/to LJU.
DeleteIn any case, you are not using LX as an outbound carrier, so it might work half the time. Again, it’s a shame, since LX has a better product than LH.
DeleteYou can do a bit of work by yourself. From 22:09 it is clear that it is outbound flight. I'm done here. Have a nice day.
DeleteThere really is no way of pleasing people commenting here, is there?
ReplyDeleteWhen JP vanished, other airlines cancelled routes and frequencies to other destinations at short notice to come to the rescue and start flying to LJU. Result: People moaning about mid-day timetables unsuitable for business travellers. Conspiracy theories about the world being against Slovenia because timetable improvements didn't happen overnight. Calls for another national carrier.
When LX makes a major investment in the LJU market by devoting capacity during the most valuable time of the day to the route, an evening peak timetable that is a dream to business travellers, with attractive timings maximising the working day for people travelling in both directions. Result: People moaning about it NOT being a mid-day timetable, about it not being suitable for connections to their preferred destination. Conspiracy theories about the world being against Slovenia for "poor" timetables again (!).
Funny enough, LX plans to switch to the early afternoon departure from LJU in the winter 2021 timetable.
DeleteTotally agree with Anon 07:37. And all the moaning is never supported by real/realistic data. It's just a stat of moaning mind.
DeleteWhy is that funny, Anon 07:52? It's the same winter schedule as in 2019, so basically their regular winter schedule.
DeleteI doubt LX has finished the plans for W21 already. What is for sale at the moment is bound to be a copy+paste exercise of the current winter timetable as a placeholder.
DeleteIt’s funny because of the praise of some people how perfect the LX summer timetable is for business pax.
DeleteNo one said that we miss mid day flight, but what we want is good connectivity to major EU hubs and not only to FRA. Of course current planned schedule (let's wait if that will be realized) is much better than what we have now but still that's not even 10% of what we had with JP. For business passengers it's a nightmare to plan a flight to LJU, first possible arrival with LH at 13:40? The only flights which are really convenient are morning LJU-FRA and evening FRA-LJU. Evening LJU-ZRH departure is to late, on most day you only have 1 possible connections out of ZRH, on other hand afternoon LJU-FRA departure (at 14:25) is way to early for business passengers. You have to leave LJU at 12:00, so you did not do much on that day. So actually we are coming back that those who has business meeting in Slovenia, they will have to stay additional 2 nights because of lack of connectivity. With mid day flight you will never solve that issue.
ReplyDeleteLX just cancelled my 29APR ZRHLJU flight.
ReplyDeleteThere will be many more...
DeleteYou are just moaning and complaining for nothing, as some other have pointed out. You should be opening champagne instead./sarcasm off
DeleteGrateful and thankful to LX who finally connect the Global Village with another one, but makes less sense when Slovenia is on 10days quarantine federal (BAG) list.
ReplyDeleteLjubljana airport needs a daily early morning departure for transfers to North America at least to airports in Frankfurt, Munchen and Zurich. And also for business and holiday conections to other destinations in Europe and elsewhere.
