Montenegro’s new national airline, Air Montenegro, will commence scheduled operations on June 10 with flights from Podgorica and Tivat to Belgrade. In order to launch services, the carrier will initially utilise a single Embraer E195 jet, previously operated by Montenegro Airlines. With exception to the first few days when the timetable differs, the airline will maintain six weekly flights between Podgorica and Belgrade, as well as twelve weekly rotations between Tivat and the Serbian capital. The aircraft will be deployed in W rotations from Belgrade to serve both Podgorica and Tivat. Technically, Air Montenegro will have its inaugural flight to Sarajevo on June 1, however, however, this will be a special charter operated on behalf of the Montenegrin national football team which will partake in an international friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Route | Launch date |
---|---|
Podgorica - Belgrade | 10.06.2021 |
Tivat - Belgrade | 10.06.2021 |
Tickets for the new Belgrade flights are now on sale. Despite initial announcements that the carrier will operate on low cost model, it will offer passengers both economy and business class fares. Economy class passengers will have a generous 23 kilograms included in their ticket, as well as free date changes up to one day prior to departure. Business class passengers will be able to check in two pieces of luggage up to 23 kilograms each, as well as change travel dates at any time and be issued refunds. There is currently only a single fare type for business and economy class.
The airline will add more routes, as well as a second E195 jet, in the coming weeks. Air Montenegro’s aircraft will be painted in the airline’s corporate livery (pictured above) during the 2021/2022 winter season, which begins in October. As previously reported, the start-up carrier will initially operate its two jets in an all-white scheme. Air Montenegro’s CEO, Predrag Todorović, said Montenegro Airlines’ livery was “fantastic”, which is why the company has kept the eagle logo from its predecessor. The airline's branding will be rolled out in phases. It will first be visible on the carrier’s recently launched website, after which it will be applied onto its fleet.
This will be tragic. They had a promo the other day for around 8.000 one way. That's crazy expensive
ReplyDelete8000 euros? They must have a hell of a business class product for this price.
DeleteDinars obviously.
DeleteSerbian Dinars just in case you are still confused.
That is fantastic. Beats Air Serbia's overinflated fares without luggage and service.
DeleteWrong.
DeleteAir Serbia sells to MNE only the tickets with luggage included.
Special offer for YM is €150 and you think that's great? What planet do you live on?
DeleteGood luck.
ReplyDeleteYou will need it.
So they will fly Podgorica - Belgrade - Tivat - Belgrade - Podgorica and will switch like that a few times a day?
ReplyDeleteGiven the times in the schedule, the daily rotation for most workdays looks like this:
DeleteTGD - BEG - TIV - BEG - TIV - BEG - TGD
Thursday (seems illogical but whatever):
BEG - TIV - BEG
On weekends:
TGD - BEG - TIV - BEG - TGD
The schedule is a but erratic.
DeleteWhat happened to name To Montenegro? lol
ReplyDeleteThe company is called To Montenegro but the airline is branded Air Montenegro.
DeleteLow cost model with business class?
ReplyDeleteIt said they originally planned LCC model but concept was abandoned obviously.
DeleteConsidering the prices they are LCC but baggage policy far from it :)
DeleteThis airline will eventually become a subsidiary of Air Serbia, knowing the political course of the Montenegrin Government and early signs. At that point most traffic would funnel via BEG and perhaps even INI with a limited amount of flights to third countries.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing they will become is bankrupt
DeleteWhat does Air Serbia stand to gain from buying this airline other than 2 embraers? Nothing
DeleteDid they get IATA and ICAO codes?
ReplyDeleteBR, E.
Nope
DeleteThey are also not in the GDS
DeleteHow can they sell tickets then? These sound like "I owe you" notes.
DeleteAll ticket sales are routed via an agency that takes a €20 commission. That's why their flights can't be cheap. Return flight can't be under €85 when you factor in the agency and airport taxes. Basically they were earning €0 from these promo fares they had.
DeletePrices are dirt cheap. Better for customers.
ReplyDeleteAnd their planes are newer than Air Serbia.
DeleteYounger in age but the cabin inside is really bad. I doubt they refurbished it.
DeleteAre you serious? The cabin was absolutely fine. Nice black leather seats.
DeleteThe cabin was already showing its age, they did not refurbish them. Also they were not black, they were gray.
DeleteTheir logo is the same font as Montenegro Airlines.
ReplyDeleteI wish them all the best
ReplyDeleteVery generous luggage policy actually.
ReplyDeleteTrue, if the schedule suits people, it will be very popular.
DeleteMost people don't know they exist.
DeleteWith this sort of pricing and luggage, they can easily take P2P customers away from Air Serbia.
ReplyDeleteAir Serbia still offers much better and convinient schedule.
DeleteThey will fly Podgorica twice daily and Tivat will be up to 5!
DeleteI dont think they will take much. Its highly rushed, practically no marketing and a google search doesnt show the website, rather first to pop up is the YM website which doesn't work. Im sure a fair few will want to test out the new airline, just like people booked tickets with JU when they used them on regional familiarisation flights.
DeleteMontenegro keeps winning!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha
DeleteYou must be a cousin of the "Bravo Hrvatska" guy:))))
:) :) :)
DeleteWill there be any service on board?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you need for a 45 minute fight?
DeleteThere always used to be a drink service.
DeleteProbably water, tea and coffee.
DeleteWonder what the next destinations will be
ReplyDeleteIt was already written here - Ljubljana and Frankfurt
DeleteAnd possibly Istanbul.
DeleteThis is great
ReplyDeleteThem not having branding is ridiculous.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteWill cabin crew wear Montenegro Airlines uniforms considering there is no brand?
DeleteProbably... If this new airline doea not havr a livery I doubt they have new uniforms.
DeleteThey should have just left the MGX livery and got rid of the "Airlines" title and put "Air" in front of "Montenegro".
DeleteMeh no thanks
ReplyDeleteDid people that had tickets bought with Montenegro Airlines ever get compensated?
ReplyDeleteNever
DeleteWow crazy
DeleteThat was the whole point of declaring the company bankrupt. So they never pay back the millions they owe.
DeleteThis is extremely rushed launch with no advertising, no branding, nothing. They will be bleeding money big tune.
ReplyDelete*time
DeleteVery creative logo :D
ReplyDeleteThis is how it's done. Yet here in Slovenia we are waiting for over year and a half for new national airline.
ReplyDeleteNo, this is not how its done. Extremes on both sides. Time will tell I guess.
DeleteHmm, I’m still suspicious about this. Branding looks so bad and cheap and on the other hand JU is additionally doing extra adds and campaigns for TIV and PGD ( they even scheduled A330 for one flight), I feel like Air Serbia is going to be very aggressive this summer because they practically now own Montenegrin market after YM collapsed and won’t let passengers switch to other airline. I just don’t want this to be YM2 story, sooner or later Air Montenegro will have to play by JU’s rules...
ReplyDeleteFor an aviation portal where one would expect to see alot of positive and supportive comments for the launch of an airline - any airline during these tough times - I'm really surprised to read all of the vitriol being thrown around.
ReplyDeleteSure, it isn't as polished as it should be or as one would expect, but hell, they are doing stuff when others are simply talking shit
True dat. At least they haven't said that they are 99% sure to fly !
DeleteIts a highly rushed concept. Weve seen over the years alot of start ups, including national carriers - Air Bosna, B&H Airlines, MAT to name a couple. The 'better' carriers in the region are still dependent on government support. Just a couple of points why there isn't soo much enthusiasm. Don't get me wrong, I wish them all the best, however I think its a highly rushed project that will bring them back to where they were with YM.
DeleteIt was pointless getting rid of YM. They could have just rebranded the airline.
ReplyDeleteNope, they would still owe millions. Whole point of killing YM was getting rid of the debt.
DeleteThey should really get rid of the Montenegro Airlines website or redirect to the new airline. I mean when you type Air Montenegro in google the first results is Montenegro Airlines.
ReplyDeleteWe will see what will happen when aircraft goes off, it will be tough
ReplyDeletehttps://i.imgur.com/W35dFad.jpg
ReplyDeleteHorrendous
DeleteTail and back part of the plane - ok
DeleteFront of the plane - disaster
That logo will get highly criticized in western European and culturally sensitive locations. Why on earth would you have "Negro" in its own line.
ReplyDeleteAbsolute lunacy.
Ahahahahahahah
DeleteThey were so focused on the "Monte" (ala Monte Carlo) that they completely ignored the "Negro" part. This is suicide from a PR perspective.
DeleteI wish them luck, but if they were a public company I would be shorting their stock.
They will also have an abbreviated version of the logo that just says AIR MNE
DeleteNo one in the west will care about it besides a few social justice warriors. Negro means black and it's a constitutent part of the country's name.
DeleteAnyone knows what books I can read to learn about aviation terminology, for example w patterns? I want to learn more about industry
ReplyDeleteWas watching the presentation live, there were amazing logo proposals, but this one is laughable.
ReplyDeleteWhat were they thinking?
Let's see if they will reconsider reintroducing LIS and not just focus on nearby cities. LIS has more potential, especially in summer and similar what we saw with Air Astana the other day, MNE needs medium-haul flights to sustain its network.
ReplyDeleteThe E195 is the best aircraft they can chose because it practically covers the whole continent with their coverage and can even do TGD-DXB or TGD-SVX.
What network?
DeleteLIS will undoubtedly be the key to success for Air Montenegro.
DeleteWhy would you showcase your livery on A350, which you will never operate?
ReplyDeleteWhat if their consultant and OU's consultant suggest the only sustainable future for those airlines is a three-way merger with Air Serbia?
ReplyDeleteSAS-y style!
DeleteWe had that 30 years ago. It was called JAT. The same JAT that linked 4 Yugoslav cities with Intercontinental destinations. One of those cities today has days with 1 flight.
DeleteYes, we all know the history of JAT.
DeleteThe point is should/could a new airline exist from 3-5 sovereign states in the Western Balkans ie.: SLO, CRO, BiH, SRB, MNE, and maybe NMK. Similar to what Sweden, Norway and Danmark have in SAS.
I'm sure this could never work in former Yugo. Just say'in.
I don't think we Serbs have much to gain from that especially since JU is routing all those passenger to fly via BEG where Serbian crew are hired, taxes are paid to the Serbian government and so on. I am sure that one of the first things the new airline would be forced to do is introduce intercontinental flights from ZAG no matter what. It would be politics over business every day.
DeleteThat said, others are more than welcomed to cooperate but I don't see it happening.
+100
DeleteThere is no political will, nor popular support, nor clear economic benefits.
DeleteIn theory we can debate it here all we want. But ain't gonna happen.
Economic benefit is clear. One medium/larger airline can resist Ryan, Wizz, LH and LOT better than three small airlines.
DeleteI hope it works out but so far it looks very rushed.
ReplyDeleteI think they mistook the A350 for the Embraer :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they kept the MGX eagle.
ReplyDeleteIf they go for a tourists season they should sink the ticket prices.
ReplyDeleteEagle is one of the best logos I've ever seen. But the front of the airplane, it looks like a poor photoshop in PowerPoint.
ReplyDeleteThe business model is much better than previous company. They focus on routes where they can make money year round. Summer season is the bonus. They will have good utilisation. They got a good deal on planes, which is a good start. They should outsource as much as possible and switch to digital sales completely.
Having said that, Air Serbia will likely dump the prices to make the life hard for the startup.
They rushed because if they missed the summer, the project would be done before taking off.
There is no way no one in the company didn't realize how bad that air-monte-negro looks like. A PR and a marketing disaster.
ReplyDeleteI like the tail but definitely not the logo.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile their website shows a completely different logo https://airmontenegro.com/
ReplyDeleteGive it a few days before someone remembers to change it. This is Montenegro after all :D
DeleteLogo font seems very similar to Air France.
ReplyDeleteI can bet this livery will never see the light of day. It is color heavy, ie expensive. In the end they will just put a sticker logo at the front and that's it.
ReplyDeleteOne has to wonder what was the point of painting the planes all white when the tail will be exactly the same as Montenegro Airlines???
