NEWS FLASH
KLM will introduce an additional five weekly flights between Amsterdam and Belgrade for a total twelve weekly rotations this coming winter season. The Dutch carrier has announced it will operate two daily flights between Amsterdam and the Serbian capital each Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It will have a morning and evening departure from Amsterdam, with one of its aircraft to stay the night in Belgrade, prior to its early morning return to the Netherlands’ largest city. The second daily service will depart Belgrade after midday. All flights will be operated by the Embraer 190 jet. KLM launched operations to Belgrade this summer season after a thirty-year hiatus.
I could only wish LJU had half of this connectivity BEG has. People keep critisizing JU, but noone sees the fact that BEG would not have become what it is today if there had not been JU around.
ReplyDeleteJP was no JU.
DeleteNot sure I can agree with you. Belgrade could easily have Ryanair operating 50+ destinations from Belgrade + various European legacy carriers. We would not need JU
DeleteJu had W6 and U2 for years at BEG and JU managed to expand and grow. We do need JU more than ever. You have confused BEG with ZAG, it should say: Zagreb will have Ryanair operating 50+ destinations from ZAG + European legacy carriers. We don't need OU.
DeleteInterested to hear the SME's on this site - do you think we will ever see the likes of KLM, BA or LH flying to Skopje from the major European hubs?
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don't think one day AF, LH or KLM are going to fly to Skopje simply because people in North Macedonia and Kosovo ( most of the passengers flying from SKP ) can't afford flying with these mentioned airlines. I think we can expect for the moment prestige airlines low cost subsidiaries ( Transavia for both Air France and KLM ) like Swiss does in both Pristina and Skopje by sending Edelweiss A320.
DeleteI have also seen somewhere on a previous article from 2019 that Lufthansa group wasn't considering having a big presence in SKP so that's why we only have Austrian flying there.
Adding the fact that almost all of the European cities are covered from Skopje by Wizz.
And I agree with those who say SKP needs more legacy airlines to allow connections to North America ( big diaspora )
It would be great for AUS transfers in the times when QR isn’t flying... But if easyjet has great results from SKP, they might launch AMS, CDG or LGW.
DeleteThat said, I would like KLM to launch flights to Skopje so that there will be competition, which will push Wizz Air to lower its prices to Eindhoven. Sometimes flying with prestigious companies can be more advantageous as I have witnessed, recently I looked at tickets from Belgrade to Paris via Amsterdam at only 75 euros one way. The return was at the same price which gives a return trip to 150 euros and this in summer. And also don't forget that you have a better experience by flying with KLM than using Wizz that lands in BVA and not in CDG likes KLM does.
DeleteTriple daily next summer.
ReplyDeleteI think this is compensation for AF terminating belgrade in winter.
It's not terminated, it's a seasonal route.
DeleteSince when is AF only seasonal in Belgrade ? It's so sad, it used to be year-round in 2019 until Covid appeared
DeleteSince 2020.
DeleteAF easily could fly daily in winter with their Embraerjet 175.
DeleteBut they are incompetent.
Air France practically is a state run airline.
AF-KLM is well known for the disparity of its partner airlines.
Succesfull KLM vs lossmaking basket case AF.
They are incompetent because they don't fly to BEG in winter? So Iberia, BA, Finnair, SAS, TAP are also incompetent? Some people here..
DeleteIncompetent!
DeleteParis is one of the biggest airport in the world even bigger than Amsterdam.
Air France has a worldwide network with endless connections.
Air France has the perfect aircraft for flights with low loadfactors.
And still they can not fly to the biggest airport in Ex Yu while KLM can.
For me that is the proof that Air France is totally incompetent.
Once again, BEG is surprising.
ReplyDeleteWith this frequency and early departure by KL from BEG JU can say good bye to AMS. Well done strategic planners sitting in Belgrade main office!
ReplyDeleteWhat strategic planners are you talking about?
DeleteCCO and CEO
DeleteOf what company?
DeleteAir Serbia, of course, certainly not KLM
DeleteJU will not say good bye to AMS. KLM doesn't fly to SJJ, TIA, TGD, TIV, SOF, SKG, SKP, KRR, ROV etc... and Air Serbia does. KLM wants to take portion of BEG long haul market away from LH. Air Serbia will still be the best choice for regional transfers to AMS.
DeleteEven better than VIE ZAG or OTP?!
DeleteBEG is much better than VIE ZAG and OTP for those transfers. For example, TIV doesn't have any flights to any of those 3 airports so it can't use them for any transfers. Belgrade has many TIV flights, even in the winter.
DeleteReally good if you consider that they never flew before in winter to Belgrade.
ReplyDeleteKLM did fly to Belgrade during winter but you might be too young to remember it, January 1980:
