Skopje Airport handled 192.638 passengers in July marking its busiest month since October 2019. During the first seven months of the year, Skopje Airport welcomed 567.360 travellers through its doors, which is down 56.4% on the same period during the pre-pandemic 2019. The airport maintained its position as the third busiest in the former Yugoslavia, behind Belgrade and Pristina, but ahead of Split and Zagreb. Between January and July, Wizz Air accounted for 62.6% of Skopje’s capacity, followed by Turkish Airlines with 10.8% and Austrian with 8.1% of all seats.

ReplyDeleteInteresting that Zagreb is now 4th in ex-Yu, well predictable due to Covid measures which were relaxed only in May, 3 months ago. I wonder what sort of traffic figures we can expect in 2022 and 2023? I expect Zagreb will most likely have around 1.25 million passengers in 2021 and 1.75 million in 2022, with 2.5 million in 2023, although figures could be a lot higher, perhaps 3.0 million in 2023, it’ll all depend on how fast things are restored in airline passenger market, but it is possible Zagreb could hit 2.0 million in 2022 and 3.0 million in 2023 as Ryan air expands @Zagreb. It is interesting that Skopje and Pristina are doing so well, considering, not sure they’ll be able to keep their position beyond this year however.

DeleteYep, everyone had covid restrictions, but Zagreb only oppened up in May, restrictions in place were all up to late April. The rest oppened up early even last year you could fly to various places with almost no restrictions.
As i've said, Zagreb will quickly recover, now that there's less restrictions.
Everyone else in ex-Yu except Croatia and Slovenia had an EU entry ban until July.

Because people still had the will to travel to non-EU markets unaffected by travel bans while in Croatia majority of local population does not fly and majority of passengers are foreign torists. That's why you don't have charters for locals from Zagreb and why traffic in Croatia is so extremely seasonal. Maybe Ryanair manages to change travel attitudes but even they said absolute majority of bookings do far are coming from outside of Croatia.
DeleteIt's clear that most of people from Croatija simply DO NOT travel. Vacations they go by car to Adriatic. Most of passengers in Croatian airports are forgein tourists. From October to May airports are empty. End of story!

DeleteZagreb had restrictions, lockdown till May. Only few flights were permitted, Airport fully opened on June 4th. You, had massive spike in traffic after that. 100k in June and 154k in July. August will most likelly be around 175k ,Septepmber could be around 200-220k and October will be about the same. November, December will be around 150-200k. Zagreb will most likelly handle 1.25 million pax this year.
Please don't make things up. There were no restrictions on arriving or departing flights to Zagreb.

DeleteWhy get triggered about the truth? Look at the current destinations in SKP. 85% of them are to Germany (mainly), Sweden and Italy. Home to the Albanian diaspora.

Correct as I once stated. Only Albanian diaspora flies from Skopje. U can't even get in the building if your not Albanian diaspora. Macedonian diaspora goes to Germany and Switzerland by donkeys. Thank you
ReplyDeleteI know. Thanks to the huge Albanian diaspora, the airport has seen a high traffic. In fact, the number is so high, that TIA, PRN and now SKP showing high traffic figures but also sadly because of extremely high emigration.
DeleteIf you check the destinations served from SKP, it will give you a very good indication that the airport is a gasto one and well connected with secondary and tertiary, richer European countries. Take Vexjo, Turku, Bremen or Frederichafen as very good references.
No Amsterdam, Paris CDG, Munich, Prague or primary airports....
It is widely know that only Albanian and no other diaspora exists. Grow up!
