NEWS FLASH
Croatia Airlines is set to introduce international flights from Osijek, with the carrier to commence operations to Munich. Flights are yet to be scheduled, however, the airline is expected to inaugurate the service at the start of the 2021/2022 winter season. Further details will be made public tomorrow at 11.30 CEST at a press conference at Osijek Airport. Croatia Airlines has so far introduced just one new route since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, between Split and Prague, on a seasonal summer basis. Osijek Airport has struggled to attract new airlines and customers over the past few years. It currently only offers domestic flights operated by the national carrier and Trade Air.
Finally acting like a national carrier and commencing flights from one of the most isolated parts of Croatia. This is long overdue and this is practically untapped market. A lot of VFR traffic that had to use BUD, TZL and BEG. These flight were full to the brim everytime I flew (50+ times).
ReplyDeleteWhy isolated? What do you mean?
DeleteHe means they aren't connected very well.
DeleteFinally a route that makes sense and connects Osijek to a major hub!
ReplyDeleteIt is sure interesting how Ryanair as forced Croatia to find another markets, I just can't see how they would fly from Osijek without being forced by someone else. Fingers crossed this is just the first destination.
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a flight to DUB few years ago?
DeleteWell, sort of, it was a charter flight for the holidays, there were just a couple of flight at insane prices. OSI-DUB around 350 eur one way. Hope this will not be prices that steeply.
DeleteThanks. Yeah, crazy prices.
DeleteBlimey, this is forward thinking, what has got into them?
ReplyDeleteBravo OU!
ReplyDeleteHope is not once per week.
ReplyDeleteWill this hurt OU at ZAG to some extent?
ReplyDeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteSo it's the "Bravo xyz" guy again.
DeleteFeeding the Mutti Lufthansa at a loss once again!
ReplyDeleteIs BCG really this stupid
Still not sure why it is so difficult to attract at least a couple of flight from LCCs. This is not just an airport for Osijek, it's for the whole eastern part of Croatia. Osijek, Vinkovci, Vukovar, Županja, Beli Manastir, Našice, Đakovo and many other cities that have substantial VFR traffic internationally. And the flights were really heavily relied upon when both Wizz and Ryan flew out from OSI.
