NEWS FLASH
The operator of Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Fraport Slovenija, has named Babett Stapel (pictured) as the airport’s new General Manager, replacing Zmago Skobir, whose term comes to and end next week. Mr Skobir has been the head of the airport for over fourteen years and will remain as an advisor to the management at Fraport Slovenija until the end of next year to ensure a smooth transition. Ms Stapel joined Fraport in 1999 as an in-house lawyer. She continued her career as an analyst and from 2004 to 2010 as the Head of the Retail Strategy Department at Frankfurt Airport. In 2011 she became part of the Management Board of Lima Airport. Her board responsibility covered Human Resources, Image and Communication, and Management Systems. In 2016 she joined the Management Board of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management in Varna where she was responsible for Commercial and Aviation Activities. After a short stay in Bulgaria, she took up her work at Fraport Slovenija, as Chief Finance, Administrative and Commercial Office and Procurator. Babett Stapel is a lawyer (PhD) graduated from the University of Hamburg with a complementary education in business administration (MBA) from the University of Nottingham.
Good luck! A lot of work ahead.
ReplyDeleteShe will have to clean the mess that Skobir made at the airport.
DeleteThe best thing that happened to LJU this year.

Deleteyou don't know that. what are her credentials? She only served the same kind of role for a very shor time. Before that she worked with different things.
DeleteI know you have to start somewhere, but you don't know if she'll actually do something at LJU or just run the same politic onwards
Can it be worse? No. Is there hope with Skobir? No.
DeleteWhats at stake? Nothing.
Acctualy it can happen, but I don't believe, she at least won't be against new national carrier even tho I am also supprised that skobir said last time that we need one.
DeleteAgreed and aplauded!
DeleteSehr gut!
ReplyDeleteThink if somebody will fix this mess is people like her driven and at the right point in her carrier (experience, age) that has learned by the past, but is not controlled by the them.
ReplyDeleteThis was the main problem with Skubir, as his decisions have been driven by the past experiences and feuds.
Let's make Slovenia's air story once again a story of success and innovation.
Good Speed Babett and may the wind be always at your back.
I am really curious what her statements will be on topic of Slovenia's national carrier...
ReplyDeleteHope we will get one and that lju will tell gouverment it's a must
Deleteagree
DeleteAs far as I can see, she is a heavy job-hopper, moving from one department to another... Mark my words, no luck for Ljubljana airport with her.
ReplyDeletemaybe you are right, but can it be worse?
DeleteDanke Deutschland 😃
ReplyDeleteAll what I can tell you is that VAR has improved quite a lot since Fraport took over. The terminal used to be so sh..ty and a sleeping airport in winter. They managed to base 3 Wizzair aircraft and have more winter activity.
ReplyDeleteI think her role will be good for LJU, which is in urgent need of a national carrier or a major airline because it is not acceptable for an EU capital not to be decently connected with the rest of the continent!!
1000+
DeleteVarna has larger population than Ljubljana, not to mention huge tourist market in the summer.
DeleteWho ever it is - it's better then Skobir. Serving all kind of kind governments and owners and basically the trend was downwards. So I wish the CEO all the best in consolidating this "Augean stables" and bring the airport to its former glory.
