NEWS FLASH
Air Cairo will be introducing new flights to the former Yugoslavia next summer season. The airline, which currently maintains year-round operations between Hurghada and Belgrade, will add a new service from Sharm el Sheikh to the Serbian capital, as well as from Hurghada to both Sarajevo and Banja Luka. The new network additions will commence from late March of next year.
Great news!
ReplyDeleteSJJ securing another new route. Well done and excellent job from the airport management!!
ReplyDeleteFraport should just steal the SSJ management at this point
ReplyDeleteINI was mentioned few weeks ago...
ReplyDeleteprobably the CAD is blocking it o.O
DeleteThey also mentioned CAI-BEG. I think JU might launch INI-Egypt flights like they launched AYT this summer.
DeleteSo happy that Sarajevo just keeps adding new routes, well done :)
ReplyDeleteBNX is top
ReplyDeleteLJU still sleeping..
ReplyDeleteNista za TZL,ona mrtva za sve...
ReplyDeleteHow come these airlines from Africa and the Middle East never fly to Zagreb or any Croatian cities in general? I always see Sarajevo and Belgrade but never Croatia as a destination. Is there any particual reason for that or is there just not enough demand.
ReplyDeleteBecause unlike Zagreb SJJ and BEG don't have sea so they have to go abroad
DeleteTunisair operates to ZAG. Not sure now in covid but before it did. Dubrovnik Airline operated to Aqaba. Croatia Airlines to Marakesh. Adria flights from LJU to Egypt were always like fifty-fifty filled with passengers from both Slovenia and Croatia. So, demand is there, of course much less than from BEG which is bigger city plus Serbia has no sea, and in addition to that close by airports with flights to North Africa and Near East
DeleteCroatians have a strong culture of vacationing in their own country. Even in TIA which is poorer and has sea in the summer there are almost daily Antalya and Bodrum flights as well as SSH and HRG.
DeleteI am not buying this argument that Belgrade has this demand just because Serbia doesn't have access to the sea. Even when Serbia and Montenegro were living together BEG still had crazy demand for Egypt. There were also flights to Tunis and so on. I remember in early 2000s there would be 2-3 B727s that would be leaving to Hurgada at the same time.
DeleteEven today when you go to Montenegro it's basically like going to a domestic destination. No passport needed, they speak Serbian there and so on. That is why there are so many flights in summer.
What sets Serbs apart from Croats is that many of them are not willing to spend ALL of their holidays on domestic beaches. I know many who go to Greece and then for an extended weekend to MNE. That is why BEG has such crazy demand for these places.
Im sorry but SJJ has sea and a coastline, a small one but its still there and can be used (as we saw during the Covid pandemic and travel restrictions)
DeleteSlovenia too
