Air Serbia to restore Nice operations

NEWS FLASH


Air Serbia will resume flights between Belgrade and Nice next summer after a two-year hiatus. Services will commence on April 14 and run twice per week, each Thursday and Sunday, with the Airbus A319 aircraft. It comes just two days after Wizz Air announced the launch of the same route from March 29. The Serbian carrier introduced seasonal flights to Nice in 2019. The route briefly operated in the summer of 2020 but was promptly suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

      Point is some neighbors can't deal with Air Serbia success. Subsidies are handed out in LJU, SKP, ZAG, TGD etc but that doesn't bother them.

      First of all, what's wrong if flag carrier get's subsidies. All exyu airlines and many otheres need this.

      So you would rather give miney to wizz or anyone else than JU. Like slovenian gouvement. No adria doesn't need subsidies... Oh guess what they did need it. And now we give way to much miney away while those 10 million were peanuts.
      So don't complain over JU. If they need it they need it, they at least provide connections and aren't like wizz wich suspends over 10 routes due corona (yes I know it's shit...) but anyway they fly to FRA and not hhn...

      It's pointless to talk about subsidies given to JU since there are more positive than negative things that are associated with it. Yes, JU is far from a perfect carrier and they are never going to be some major European player. That said, for the Serbian market they are very important since they provide the much needed connectivity, both to Europe and the region. In terms of what they give us and what they take in return, I think we as passengers are benefiting very much from JU still being around.

      I think once you adjust your expectations, Air Serbia will become a much smaller nuisance to you.

      I guess what matters the most is that JU has stabilized and they are serving their purpose. That's all that matters. Actually, if you look at their network and the schedule they have, it's extremely convenient especially if you live in Belgrade.

  6. Subsidies are a waste of tax payer money. If other governments want to waste their money on their national air carriers that is their problem. Serbia can invest that money in more infrastructure. And funny how even with the subsidies Air Serbia is still overpriced on all their routes.

      It's not a waste, that's what's wrong. Miroslav does not know and does not care to know that for many years we have seen evidence to the contrary. Tax payer money had net benefits when invested in Croatia Airlines, Air Montenegro, Air Serbia and has been shown Slovenia should have done better if government restarted a national airline. Miroslav is repeating the same fallacy and doing it in a way that provokes more conflict and hate.

      Overpriced?! Said someone who is probably not even paying tickets in public transport.
      Their prices are decent and fair and in line with the market. If you think Wizz 10€ ticket is reasonable and fair, you know nothing.

As you know, Air Serbia just secured a sweet deal of 24 million euros with a duration of 2 years, which is basically 1 million per month again from the money of the actively working population that pay taxes. But hey, then Miroslav doesn't know what he is talking about.

      He doesn't want to take a look at what other governments are doing because others countries prove once and again subsidies are a great way to generate overall benefits for the economy and support domestic airline in smaller markets against big airline cartels and ULCCs. If OSI-ZAG subsidies are through the roof, so should be for other airlines and routes in the region. There has been a dozens of Miroslavs on this forum in the past decade and their attempts to attack Air Serbia using taxpayer method have all been repeatedly defeated.

      Serbs could enter Germany until now as well. It's just being taken off the list which requires quarantine upon arrival. And entry into France is permitted.

  10. AirSerbia relaunched Nice ahead of schedule to slow down the bookings for Wizz and to step forward and attract connecting passengers. The fight for passengers starts far before the airplane actually takes off.

    As a passenger, I would think twice now which airline to book. JU and W6 have different baggage policies, terms&conditions, etc.

      You are right. Even though JU has much fewer flights worldwide compared to W6 they do have the tendency to have last-minute cancellations. On my opinion, Ryanair have a lower cancellation rate because they have the power and can allow themselves to fly half empty planes in some occasions. Plus, I don't think NCE will be a transfer destination.
