FlyBosnia plans to restart operations after almost a year next summer with its main focus this time being on European destinations rather than those in the Middle East. According to the “Flying Bosnian” portal, the carrier, which currently has no aircraft in its fleet, will lease an Airbus A320 jet and introduce services from all four of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s airports - Sarajevo, Tuzla, Banja Luka and Mostar. The airline will serve Zurich from all four cities, as well as Geneva from Sarajevo and Mostar, while it will offer one-way flights from Sarajevo to Belgrade and Zagreb, and a one-way service from the Serbian and Croatian capitals to Mostar.
The majority of the flights will operate in a W formation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland. Tickets for those are already on sale through a local Swiss tour operator, while FlyBosnia is due to commence its own sales next month. Operations are set to commence at the start of the 2022 summer season on March 29. If the flights go ahead as planned, FlyBosnia would compete directly against Swiss on its flights between Zurich and Sarajevo, as well as Air Serbia and Croatia Airlines on its one-way operation from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital to Belgrade and Zagreb respectively.
FlyBosnia was set up by Saudi Arabia's Al Shiddi Group, which was founded in 1975 with interests in various fields, including construction, real estate, agriculture and tourism. The Saudi conglomerate has been operating in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2006 and is the country’s largest Arab investor. The airline initially flew to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain, tapping into the huge summer demand between the Gulf and Bosnia. However, it later unsuccessfully attempted at serving destinations in Europe as well. Ultimately, the coronavirus pandemic saw it halt all commercial operations and the airline has struggled to restore flights since.
I have so many questions about this. I don't know where to begin.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the point of the one way ZAG and BEG flights?
ReplyDeleteSo strange
DeleteMaybe they plan to transport tour groups from the Gulf?
DeleteNot gonna happen
ReplyDeleteWho are they going to lease the plane from?
ReplyDeleteFlyBosnia used to lease a plane from Trade Air once upon a time so maybe them again.
DeleteI assume from whoever they get the plane it will be a wet-lease? I doubt they have any crew anymore of their own.
DeleteYes. Last time they were flying they were wet leasing a plane from Lithuania.
DeleteThis would be great! Hope it happens
ReplyDeleteThey are going to fail yet again.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the Middle East flights??
ReplyDeleteI doubt they can compete anymore against all the Gulf airlines that launched flights to Sarajevo this year
DeleteTrue. Forgot about that.
DeleteBizarre
ReplyDeleteSJJ is going to have another great year
ReplyDeleteThey will have a great year regardless of FlyBosnia
DeleteFlyBosnia actually helped them a lot in 2019.
DeleteYeah sure it just had thousands of euros in debt to the airport.
DeleteI meant passenger wise
DeleteWhat a joke
ReplyDeleteThis is something else. Who comes up with these plans? Maybe it is a money-laundering scheme, I have no other explanation.
ReplyDeleteI would be very cautious before booking with them.
ReplyDeleteDon't know weather to laugh or cry.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the frequencies?
ReplyDeleteMost are two per week except ZAG and BEG which is just 1.
DeleteSo what is a passenger flying from BEG or ZAG to OMO going to do about the return flight?
ReplyDeleteFly via Zurich to Sarajevo and then connect onto their Belgrade flight :D
DeleteConvenient
DeleteAirbus to, bus return
DeleteHow much are the tickets to Switzerland?
ReplyDeleteThey have to fly to Basel not Zurich...we need Mostar flights from Basel.
ReplyDeleteThey have to fly to Basel not Zurich...we need Mostar flights from Basel.
ReplyDeleteThat colour scheme reminds me a lot of Ryanair.
ReplyDeleteLogo looks similar too.
DeleteI actually like the livery on this aircraft in the photo. Looks good.
DeleteLet's see if this is gonna work out.
ReplyDeleteMy money would be on no.
DeleteAre the Saudis still behind this airline?
ReplyDeleteYes according to business registry.
DeleteThey won't last 5 mins on any of these routes. They love wasting money, propably laundering it. At least the Bosnian taxpayer isn't subsidising this amateurish Airline.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame. This airline had potential. Now it's just a joke.
ReplyDeletethey should rename this airline to GroundBosnia
DeleteMaybe Saudis, the owners, are "consulted" by BCG as well. That's the only I can think about when I see this ☺
ReplyDeleteWhat a joke of an airline, I am sorry, but I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteFly Bosnia ni sama nije sigurna sta hoce, pusti prodaju karti za razne destinacije pa otkaze.
ReplyDeleteMoscow, Bucharest and Warsaw should be considered. I don't understand why there are no flights to Russia, especially considering the visa free regime.
ReplyDeleteI told that several times while i was pilot on FBS.present Routing will be transport of oxygen nothing more
DeleteThis would be great news for Mostar which barely has any passengers.
ReplyDeleteEurowings is coming next year so it will be better.
DeleteIt is good if Fly Bosnia venture works. No taxpayer money is involved into it. There is no harm to any of us if Fly Bosnia does not make it.
ReplyDeleteExcept Sarajevo Airport which lost money as Flybosnia didn't pay them handling and landing fees.
DeleteAppreciate the lighter news to close this year. Laughter is the best medicine :D
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteA320 is too big for these flights
ReplyDeleteIf this airline failed during the best time of aviation it has zero chance now.
ReplyDeleteThey should do charters from places that have little or no connections to Saudi Arabia or Kuwait . For example Belgrade to Riyadh/Jeddah/Dammam or Belgrade to Kuwait City or even Sharjah. With a Saudi owner they could fill these flights even with help by the Saudi/ Kuwaiti travel agencies . Flynas and Jazeera already did this ..
ReplyDelete^ probably already too late ...
DeleteWhy too late ?
DeleteI think it would be very difficult for them to get permits to operate these charters coming from a third country (and I don't mean from the Serbian side).
Delete^ Read the EY Yu aviation topic "Gulf carriers eye new Belgrade flights" from 23. november 2021.
DeleteAt the website of FlyBosnia shows coming soon Flights from Sarajevo and Mostar.
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine how profitable they will be.
ReplyDeleteDepending on flights per week this could affect Air Serbia hard after all. BiH is one of Air Serbia's biggest transfer markets.
ReplyDeleteIt think it will be better if flybosnia open flixht to CDG, BER, FRA or MAD
