Croatia Airlines will discontinue services between Osijek and Munich which were launched in mid-November on a two-month trial basis. The last service is scheduled for January 14. Flights have been operating twice per week with the Dash 8 Q400 turboprop aircraft. Croatia Airlines’ CEO, Jasmin Bajić, previously said. “We decided to commence flights between Osijek and Munich because they will provide good connections to the rest of Europe. This service will be operated on a two-month trial basis, but we are in discussions over a three-year contract”.

DeleteJust to say "my small insignificant provincial airport" has LOT, Lufthansa, Condor, Transavia, Eurowings, Ryanair and Air Baltic scheduled for this year. Sending my regards to HDZ bot who called RJK what I wrote first under quotations, and called me jealous when I said OSI flights were propaganda for OU and HDZ and nothing else

DeleteRijeka guy has a point. Regardless it has a lot more diverse traffic in the summer and witner, which Osijek doesn't unfortunately because someone doesn't want that to happen.
DeleteIt only makes sense that RJK has more traffic in summer as one is located by the Adriatic and the other one is located in the middle of wheat fields. In the winter there's not much difference.
DeleteYes but RJK has PUY which is really close and yet they manage to thrive. OSI on the other hand has no competition close to it and people have to drive several hours to reach BEG, TZL, BNX or ZAG.
DeleteI wouldn't say it's exactly thriving, but it's alright. Even though Pula is a smaller town than Rijeka, in 2019 the airport had 777k pax compared to 200k in RJK.
DeleteWhich only shows how competent RJK management is in fighting aggresive PUY. OSi on the other hand has thousands of gastos who are using other airports that are not even like close to it.

DeleteI never said anything else. RJK is small and insignificant airport, because of many factors and circumstances. Provincial, it is not, I will not explain why, everyone who visited Rijeka, Opatija, Krk or any other place in the area, and is not mean and full of poison, is aware of it. And calling Rijeka all these names from Zagreb, Belgrade, not to say Rome or Vienna, I would accept. Not justify, but accept. But writing it from Osijek, OMG...

Dash 8-100 would be ok with 37 seats.
DeleteIf people really wanted to travel, I do not see a problem with them transferring via Zagreb. I truly believe that Osijek could do better. One year they did reach 67000. Osijek has to really promote itself, attract a good player and work hard to get passengers.
ReplyDeleteGuys, please read the text! From the very beginning the route was scheduled on a 2 month trial basis and, depending on the results, is to be introduced on a permanent basis. I had the chance to fly MUC-OSI-MUC and both flights had a load factor of more than 70%, huge majority of PAX was transferring at MUC airport. I'm very sure that the route will be re-introduced with the start of the summer flight schedule, this is also what I overheard from an agent at OSI airport who was taking care of a passenger with mobility issues. So let's wait for summer.
