NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia’s passengers flying between Belgrade and New York are now eligible for complimentary transfer between the Serbian capital and Novi Sad using the country’s newly launched high-speed train service. Travellers holding a printed ticket to or from New York with Air Serbia can board the train between the country’s two largest cities free of charge. The new high-speed rail service was launched over the weekend with the journey time between Belgrade and Novi Sad now taking just half an hour. In addition, all Air Serbia passengers can use their boarding passes within seven days of arriving in Belgrade to gain discounts for a range of hotels, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, museums, tourist attractions, as well as transportation services, within the capital city.
Great idea
ReplyDeleteHmm they should maybe arrange for bus line 72 to stop by Novi Beograd train station otherwise they should add a train stop at Tosin Bunar since that's where 72 stops.

DeleteNovi Beograd station is closed.
DeleteIt is opening in 6 days.
Delete1h to Prokop and then 30min to Novi Sad, hmmm
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteHmm how about you do some research? Trains stop in Tosin Bunar which is some 20 minutes away by line 72.
DeleteFrom Tosin Bunar/Тошин бунар there are departures to Novi Sad at 06.07/ 07.07/ 09.10/11.07/ 13.07/ 15.22/ 17.10/ 19.17/ 22.27.
Novi Beograd station should be operational from 27.03. Only issue is that these departures are for the regional train which stops along the way and it takes around 40 minutes to reach Novi Sad.
Who doesn't have a ride to Novi Sad, this is the best solution as it doesn't require you to go to the bus station in the city.
I don't know what they're waiting to build a railway 'station' (stop) at the airport.
DeleteAll trains will stop at Novi Beograd, including IC.
DeleteAs for the IC, pitty they don`t stop at Zemun, since that is the station closest to the airport. A shuttle bus would take no more than 10 minutes.
How about introducing a f*cking bus to Tosin Bunar or Zemun Polje?
ReplyDeleteIt's not Air Serbia's job to introduce bus lines.
DeleteThere is a bus, It's line 72 that goes from the airport all the way to Zeleni venac. One of the stops is T. bunar.
Delete72 is calling Tošin Bunar since ever, but you actually need to know where the train platforms are. Not suitable by now for tourists. In addition, just the "slow" trains are calling Tošin Bunar.
DeleteHuh? the bus stop is literally under the viaduct on top of which is the train station. You literally go out of the bus and go up the stairs.
DeleteTošin Bunar station was moved into blok 40, the viaduct station directly at the entrance of the tunnel is totally gone. The new platforms are now located some 200-300 meters southeast from the bus stop, just accessible from a footpath in between buildings and the railway line. Connecting there from/to the airport is totally possible and i guess even the most convenient way from now, but i fear that everyone coming from Srem/Novi Sad is aware and willing to walk through Novi Beograd backyards to do so... The best solution would be a new bus line Zemun ŽS - Airport, also for people living in the south of Belgrade.
DeleteThey can easily get GSP to run a line from let's say Novi Beograd station to Zemun station via BEG and like that they would cover everything.
DeleteRegardless of all this, what makes me happy is that they are finally thinking of aviation and railway as interconnected units. This is a first and it's great.
This HSR needs to be backed with a metro/rail from the airport. Belgrade is basically the only large European capital with no underground.
ReplyDeleteThey should have really added a train station to the airport and have trains stop there.
ReplyDeleteWould have been the best solution.
DeleteThere is no point since one of the metro lines is supposed to go to the airport and from there to the Novi Beograd and Prokop train stations.
DeleteMetro lines are terribly planned and none of the lines are planned to go to BEG.
DeleteBelgrade airport does not have enough passenger to justify a metro line to the airport, but a suburban train line is planned to go to Surcin via BEG, but BG:Voz is in worst condition even and the city officials don`t plan on investing in something that can not bring them profit and votes(for 10 years now they shown 0 care of the people). So there are no indications that there will be a rail station there anytime soon.
Future Green Line is planned to pass by the airport and some of the next stops are: Blok 61/TC Kozara, Gandijeva, IMT, Blok 42 (Railway and bus stations), Blok 21, TC Usce, Trg Republike and then all the way to Vozdovac.
DeleteFinally
ReplyDeleteWow. Next time I'm definitely taking cab to NS station, then Soko to Prokop, then whichever bus goes to Zeleni venac (if any), than I'll take amazing bus 72 and finally I'll reach the airport. Pitty some boat is not somehow integrated into public traffic system so one can complete all means of transportation in order to reach airport from closest and second biggest Serbian city.
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to use it to the airport. People from US can use it to do a day trip to Novi Sad and back.
DeleteIt's free only at the days of your flight so I doubt anyone will be in the mood to make day trip to Novi Sad very same day after so many hours in the air...
DeleteAnon 12.15
DeleteOnce again you are showing you utter ignorance and I suppose you are one of those jealous neighbors. You do not have to go to Zeleni Venac since that is the first stop of the bus. You can take the train to Tosin Bunar and then take the 72 from there. That bus ride would take around 20 minutes since it just needs to cross Bezanija and Ledine.
Also this might be interesting for people who live in NS and who don't have someone to come pick them up. Don't forget that taking a bus from BEG to NS is not convenient as you have to go all the way to the central bus stop.
Don`t worry. During promo period IC is already almost sold out...
ReplyDeleteThanks, now I can stop worrying.
Delete75 kilometers in 35 minutes? Hardly high speed.
ReplyDeleteBelgrade-Novi Sad is over 100 kilometres.
DeleteHaters gonna hate.
DeleteActually it is higher speed because speeds are between 160-250km/h. High speed is over 250km/h
DeleteWell he is right (16:51) - Madrid Barcelona for instance is done in 2h30min and the distance is around 650km with their high speed train. Dunno how 70km in 30min is high speed but maybe I am missing something.
DeleteGoodness some people are full of some spite and hate.
Delete@17:09
DeleteSpeeds are between 120 & 200km per hour.
It is high speed because it has the potential to go faster than 250 km/h. However it makes no sense on such a short route. Just because it can doesn't mean it has to.
Delete@ anon 16:51
ReplyDeleteThe line is only 75 km long. Take into account the proportion of urban areas (BG, N.Bg, Zemun, NS suburbs where the speed is limited at 120-130 km/h, it remains some 41 km where the speed is trully 200. Longer thr distance = higher the average speed. That is with TGV, Shinkansen and others.
The idea is good but in reality very few people could use it. For someone travelling from NS to JFK, it is better to drive to the airport than use Soko. Plus you can take more luggage by car, Soko has very limited luggage space.
So what happens if you don't have anyone to drive you? There are no buses from the airport to NS.
DeleteASL probably wanted to apply the classical German DB and German (fly+rail model). The idea is nice, but the most ideal solution will be to have this train leave from the airport and conecting Novi Sad and later on, say INI or KVO if the high speed train reaches those towns.
ReplyDeleteThe idea would be great if there was logic behind it. They could of deviated the track to include the airport between Zemun and Batajnica, but they didn't. Current track kept for BG:Voz city rail while intercity and international trains use the new track via the airport. This would of been great to give better access for other towns and cities to BEG.
DeleteIt's could have and would have. Not ''of''.
Delete@18,47
DeleteThank goodness for your comment, we would be lost without you.
No problem, i usually don't make grammar correction comments but that one in particular sounds really retarded.
DeleteI find it amusing that you're commenting about my grammar while making grammar mistakes yourself.
DeleteYour grammar correction is totally unnecessary and irrelevant to the topic.
Guys, please keep in mind that BEG is supposed to get a metro link, it's one of the lines that is starting in Surcin and going all the way to Mirijevo if I am not wrong. That line would stop at the airport but also at both Novi Beograd and Prokop stations. So someone who wants to connect onto the train or a bus will just hop on the metro and be there in a few stops.
DeleteAlso, don't forget that the new Belgrade bus station will be next to the Novi Beograd train stop and metro will cover that as well.
It's all part of the urban plan to make Belgrade thrive.
"Supposed" as you you say. When will this be finally applied? We have being hearing this for many years. BG 2 million city with no metro.....diaster!
DeleteEveryone who lives in Belgrade or who is from Serbia knows that construction has begun. They are digging in Makis where the depot is supposed to be. Maybe you should spend less time complaining about lack of metro in Belgrade and worry about your city not having one.
DeleteIt is just adverisment for the train. Actualy, NY travelers wont use it...
ReplyDeletePutting aside the usual auto-chauvinist comments, which are an integral part of the average Serb mentality, having a speed train running through Serbian countryside is something which was unfathomable a few years ago. And now this is a reality and simultaneously the most advanced and modern rail line in ex-YU, running the most hi-tech trains in our region, which will be further expanded north to Subotica and south to Nis. But, of course, we have some "averageres" arguing which bus or lack thereof is convenient for them to catch when arriving in BG.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, this is an exceptional engineering achievement, and I look forward to its further expansion. Not to mention the freebies offered by Air Serbia, which are often few and far-in-between when doing similar airline comparisons.
There was literally no auto-chauvinism on this topic so please spare us this cloaked trashing of Serbs. What there was were malicious comments by our neighbors who are obviously bothered by all this.
DeleteTalk of which bus runs there absolutely makes sense if you actually bothered to read the text. JU is offering free tickets for passengers who are arriving from JFK. Since there is no train station at the airport it makes sense to discuss the fastest way from Tesla to the train to NS.
But hey, let's rather focus on calling Serbs auto-chauvinists.
There's no such thing such as auto-chauvinism :D
DeleteLaughing at celebration of 80km high speed in the year of 2022 is not auto-chauvinism, it's cynicism, the only defence mechanism we are left with in front of brain washing propaganda.
