NEWS FLASH
Flydubai will be increasing frequencies between its hub in the United Arab Emirates and Ljubljana to daily this summer. The route, which was launched at three times per week last September, is currently being maintained five times per week. It will increase to daily from June 27. The extra frequencies will run until September 19, when services will return to five per week. Flydubai’s Ljubljana operations are codeshared by Emirates. All flights are operated by the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
This route has developed very quickly and nicely. Good job!

ReplyDeleteBrilliant though I am not surprised. Demand was always there and what was missing was an airline to make the most of it. Personally I hope QR doesn't come. I would rather have FZ boost flights to double daily.

My prediction of the route development is: 10x weekly to 5x EK with 787s and 2x FZ

Delete80% on those 777 flights were slovenes. If flydubai would start 2x weekly to Maribor I think it could work wonders for them, as right now people living in upper Slovenia are still deciding for Zagreb
DeleteThey were so many Slovenes because of Expo, winter season (not so hot in Dubai), still tourists from Slovenia going in April because of Ramadan prices of hotels that will be lower. Such an important issue for people from Slovenia: the price.
DeleteFrom May on less Slovenes will fly there but immigrants and expats will fly out Dubai for breaks. Slovenians alone living there cannot support these route. Than we have transits. So it's a win win situation.
Ann 10:55 you might be surprised how many people are doing business in Dubai, the business class is almost always full as well, not to mention that cargo sector is booming in Lju, so they will be doing great no matter the time of year.
DeleteSome people here suffer from serious grandour complexes. There is no other explanation except that one for wriring about "debacle" in ZAG on the service which in summer had 90 % LF and premium class almost always full, or about 80 % of Slovenes on EK 777 from ZAG where over 80 % passengers were Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Australian. I was never one of those who wrote FZ in LJU was impossible, or there were no Slovenes on EK ZAG flights, but 80 %, com'on, give me a break :):):)

DeleteFZ is boosting LJU while reducing ZAG because LJU has more P2P demand to DXB while ZAG has much more transfer traffic which is currently on its lowest ever levels because of Far East and Australia/NZ markets still closed. These are the facts. The facts are also that about 20 % passengers of EK flights from ZAG were Croatian and Slovenian passengers, with approximately equal share, so it was 10 percent Slovenians, not 80 percent. And another fact : The best proof that the complexes exist is denial. Cheers!

Also Australia is open now so people can travel but even after this new FZ still reduced ZAG.

I was never "putting Slovenia down". Slovenia was always more developed and with higher living standards then all other ex yu countries including Croatia. But if in your opinion I am the one who "spread fake propaganda" even if I made mistake in 3 or 5 percent, and the guy who missed 60 or 70 percent in his numbers is not, than you have a serious problems, maybe even worse than complexes

DeleteNo need to be sorry. That is the fact. At the moment. Due to current restrictions on the Far East and Australia. The fact is also that in normal situation, which hopefully returns, EK/FZ have had, and will have again, more business in Zagreb. The fact is also that EK chose ZAG over BEG, LJU, DBV, SJJ or any other, because of the volume of business in Zagreb and transfer passengers which are at the moment not using the service.
DeleteJust a question. Since Lju doesn't have adria anymore, there are not many transfers but beffore that there were way more transfers from balkan to germany, acros EU. But yeah, Zag has some more demand for asian turists as it is second largest after Belgrad in exyu.
DeleteFZ take some advantage of first year flying in LJU, daily flights and can loose nothing in peak season. Loads are good and they are trying to get as much passengers they can (from others, especially TK), while having some discount from airport. Next year will be reducing to real number of frequencies. Same like FZ in Tirana. Sometime is good to see bigger picture.

DeleteI'm almost certain that ZAG will also go to daily and would not be surprised to see yet another peak-time bump of BEG services as the flights are doing very well.
DeleteLooking at current airfares (EUR 430+) for Y, the loads and resulting yield, BEG has matured really nicely from DXB on FZ with J-class LF continuously healthy... threading slowly but surely towards EK sphere of interest. This route can now sustain a daily 77L (Boeing 777-200LR) rotation especially considering the boost of perishable exports from Serbia and imports of good from Asia - now going through DXB.
I believe ZAG was reduced from daily to 5 weekly. I remember looking at schedule and it was daily, now its 5 weekly.

DeleteThis route would work even better if FZ would have A320 aircrafts, due to better cargo capacity.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, max weight per pallet/package is just 100kg and max height 85cm, while max weight might be higher on A320, but don't know how much due to distance and limitation, but max height is 110cm. That's quite a difference especially if you have volume cargo.
Amazing news for LJU. FZ daily flights and TK regularly sending A321 to LJU lately. There is some hope for better figures this year. It won't be surprising to see up to 2 daily FZ flights. They have the planes, they are a rich airline.
ReplyDeleteTK is upgrading to double daily on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting next week. So 10 weekly flights operated by a mix of A320s, A321s and 737-8.

DeleteBut how? There is no demand according to couch CEOs. LJU has to understand that they are too far from DXB and there is no way they will fill B737. Only 3700 passengers travelled between LJU and DXB in 2019, which is 10 passengers per day, they will terminate the route before they will start flying and other BS comments we have been reading for years here.
ReplyDeleteIn October and November last year I think FZ had a load factor of around 60% to/from LJU. They flew 3x weekly with 737 Max 8 which has 172 seats if I'm not mistaken. The load factor was around the same for arriving and departing flights so if you calculate that right, it comes to around 30 passengers per day both ways (when there were still restrictions almost everywhere). Not BS, just simple primary school math.
DeleteIdk, with the huge success of FZ in less than 1 year in LJU, I wonder what the f are QR doing? They are busy with Airbus and have been quite passive lately. LJU-DOH should work very well especially beginning with a 3 weekly service. They are sleeping again but hope they wake up soon.
