NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia flight JU652 from Belgrade to Moscow, which was due to depart this afternoon, was delayed almost three hours after another anonymous e-mail reported a bomb on board the Airbus A330-200 aircraft. Similar e-mails were sent concerning Air Serbia's Moscow flights yesterday and last Friday, while aircraft were mid-air, forcing them to turn back to Belgrade. All of the threats have turned out to be false so far and all have been sent from Ukraine. The author has expressed their dissatisfaction with Serbia's diplomatic relations with Russia.
As a response, ADD MORE FLIGHTS!
ReplyDeleteExactly! This is pathetic. I cannot believe I'm saying this but I'm becoming Air Serbia supporter.
DeleteI'm Serbian and have sympathies for the civilians in Ukraine. War is horrible and we in Serbia know what bombing is like. But threatening other civilians with aviation terrorism, who have nothing to do with their unfortunate war is equally criminal. Stop it now.
DeleteI believe we shall use proper name for this!
DeleteThis is Terrorism!
No diference if middle east terrorists threatning to put bomb in some western plane or this "democrats" threatne to act same way!
This is violation of lives of civilians and we are to react on this!
The two Ukraine planes were at BEG, are they still there?
ReplyDeleteThere are 3 and yes they are.
DeleteYes
DeleteIf we have strong evidence that e-mails came from Ukraine, then the GoS must take strong steps towards the ambasador and the gov.of Ukraine. Yes, it will be highly unpopular now but enough is enough. Serbia has nothing to do with this war and Ukraine's people pain.
ReplyDeleteI remember the impunity people felt back in 1999 when they were ordering stuff off of Amazon et al. with stolen credit cards, or commercial TV stations that were broadcasting bootleg Hollywood blockbusters on open air...
DeleteHowever, these thing have a habit of coming back and biting you in the a**. I feel it for the person sending our these emails, but coping with emotion which are understandably high right now should not take a form of sending serious threats about flight safety. This just doesn't go away.
This is Fashism and it should be called it's real name. Doesn't matter if this is abou AirSerbia or anyone else, condemning people just because they think differently is FASHISM!
DeleteI live in Brussels and yesterday there was fals bomb report in the Russian cultal centre, whole quarter closed for couple of hours... Why? Just because they promote Russian culture.
Once again, this is Fashism and no matter what one think about Russian attack on the Ukraine, there is no justification!
Smrt fašizmu!
* fascism
Deletehahahahah all the sudden everything is called fascism. People should not use big words if they do not understand them.
DeleteWe can agree that false alarms should be condemned and everything should be done to find people behind this, but calling this fascism is a pure non-sense. It might be a crime, but it is not fascism.
It is not false alarms that were called fascism, but forbidding different option and freedom to decide on your own, in this case where you want to fly, who you want to work with etc.
DeleteAnd yes, this Russophobia is nothing but fascism.
It's falscism
DeleteDevelop a new safety protocol for these flights and start ignoring those emails.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
DeleteThe planes used to fly to Russia should be gaurded 24/7 and all baggage double scanned before loading. As well all equipment, cargo, meals, etc. should be scanned before entry into plane.
Continue to take extra precautions and be very vigilant.
Then ignore threats and do not announce that there even was any threats.
Has this preson sent similar threats to the 20-30 other airlines that fly to Russia, or just Air Serbia?
So Charlie if I understood you well, the AC used on Russian routes should be kept at the apron all the time and used only on routes to Moscow? That is gonna be profitable for JU.
DeleteI am no aviation expert, just an enthusiast, but greater security must be taken for the time being. When a plane is determined to be used for Russia it should not be out of site of a profession security team. I have no idea what this would cost or how to implement it, but something needs to be done.
DeleteAnyway, I'm sure the state would cover the cost and not AS.
"Anyway, I'm sure the state would cover the cost and not AS."
DeleteIs there a difference?
The government is responsible for state security, border service, customs etc. not Air Serbia.
DeleteApparently you haven't flown from the Belgrade airport. Security check is right at the every gate, so you can even pass the security scan with bottles of water
Delete^ you can't. They take it from you at the gate security. Witnessed it this morning.
DeleteGuard the airplane with security personel and ignore that bomb threats .
ReplyDeleteReality is stranger than fiction. News on this topic are beginning to look like from Dr Strangelove movie, devised by BLAND Corporation to pull Serbia into the war against their will.
ReplyDeleteWhat would be the goal of that? To use anonymous threats against Air Serbia to eventually overextend and unbalance Serbia and generate regime change that will be in favor of Serbia joining NATO?
DeleteNo, I think it's simply to stop Air Serbia from flying to Russia and for Serbia to join EU sanctions.
Shameful that Air Serbia remains only European airline to fly to Russia! Stop flights now!
ReplyDeleteAnd why would that be?
DeleteIt's a civilian airline, transporting civilians - last time I checked, this was not a "shameful"activity. Did you also voice such strong opinions when Serbia got bombed?
And what is exactly the point of this? Hurting Russia? How is it going to hurt anybody, except Air Serbia? JU offers perhaps 1-2% of total international capacity to Russia - only Turkish (a European airline, last time I checked) offers at least 10-15 more seats! So, even if they pull out completely, the only side that would suffer from such a move would be Air Serbia, and Serbs who work and live in Russia.
DeleteI am trying to stay open-minded, but it really feels as this JU hysteria didn't happen by accident. Literally no one is even mentioning global players such as TK, EK, QR and others; but somehow two daily flights to Belgrade on a A320/330 are such an issue. On a route that was, pre-COVID, served by four flights a day. On a route where SU in recent months sent a B777-300 many times due to loads.
JU is the only airline serving RU that over flies EU air space on it's route to Moscow.
DeleteThis is a civilian airline forum. I mistakenly believed that people here are more knowledgeable than the general public.
DeletePlease go and check FR24 to see who uses EU airspace on flights to Russia. Hint: Air Serbia is not the only one. Also hint: if EU wanted to stop anyone, including Air Serbia, from flying to Russia using EU airspace, they would have done that. All it takes is a NOTAM.
Apart from that, there are MANY more airlines that fly to EU destinations over Russian airspace.
19:56
DeleteHow do you think Turkish gets to RU?
Also don't forget if (hopefully not) they reduce flights, prices will skyrocket even further, meaning Serbs will suffer as a result.
DeleteMoscow will simply be unreachable due to astronomical fares.
@20:03 by not flying over EU air space.
DeleteTK is overflying Poland, Bulgaria and Romania on the way to Moscow.
Deletehttps://ibb.co/2v1JktD
20:25
DeleteThey literally have nearly identical route as JU, if you ignore the Istanbul-RS part, what are you on about?
Last time i checked they were part of the EU .
DeleteI was convinced that they were flying over Khazakstan.
DeleteThis shows this ENORMOUS hipocrisy and double-standards.
DeleteYou said it! Air Serbia should be flying 2-3 daily flights from BEG-Moscow.
DeleteHahahah it flies the same route man, same as JU.. Except it flies a bit over Bulgaria first. Look at FR24...
DeleteThen why is TK still allowed to fly to Russia? I think Ukraine has filed an official complaint in EU and Kamila Harris against Serbia of not supporting its side.
DeleteASL is beginning to play with fire. I mean who knows what type of radical fanatic is being paid for those threats and might end up blowing the plane.
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, it is just tooo surreal and sounds like we are back in the 60s with terrorist bombing bomb threats inside the planes.
This is not the first or last time an airline has experienced such incidents, EL AL has been doing this for years in much worse scenarios, literally flying around rockets around TLV airport. Also, remember that airline security measures have been in place for decades with latest technology available. Airline safety and security standards are one of the highest in the world with constant improvements. Having working in aviation and airline industry for more than 18 years, many airlines receive constant threats on daily basis. Just because there is so much attention to ASL these days doesn't really mean much as long as they stick to the security and safety protocols already in place. Every piece of luggage, catering carts, food, equipment, employees and passengers are screened, so someone claiming there is a bomb on board via email is a child's play. Lastly, why would you let someone know you put a bomb on the plane if you really wanted it to blow up? Think Air India 182 Lockerbie...
Delete"Lastly, why would you let someone know you put a bomb on the plane if you really wanted it to blow up?"
Delete+1
The way these threats are going, new protocols might need to be put globally to prevent situations like this. JU flights the past week isn't an isolated case, these threats have been going on for decades, however not in the intensity as now. Will this become the new normal? Bomb threat a civilian aircraft in the name of a cause? If so, who is next? Israeli carriers because of Palestine? Moroccan carriers because of Western Sahara? Chinese carriers because of Taiwan, Tibet and Uyghurs? Environmentalists? It's not as if traveling isn't stressful enough for everyone, but continuous threats gives more of a reason to ramp up security.
ReplyDeleteJU reducing flights to SVO might encourage this sort of behavior, because it can be spun as a victory for those threatening civilian aircraft.
Exactly.
DeleteThey should keep the flights the way they are.
They didn't increase anything.
DeleteThey just replaced Aeroflot on the route.
So there is nothing to be ashamed of (wouldn't be even if they flew 5 daily).
Exactly, they should further increase frequencies. TK must be really ashamed as well flying 30+ flights a week. I don't see LH, AF and other EU feeders being ashamed or complaining that their connecting flights are packed out of BEG...Shouldn't they be ashamed and ban connections from ASL via BEG to all EU carriers?
DeleteHypocrisy at its best.
DeleteThere is no efficient way to defend from this kind of finitism, as ultimately the guy can start reporting bomb threats for all flights of a certain company, ultimately prompting the same protocol to be applied to all the flights, not only Russia bound ones.
ReplyDeleteAnyways -this guy is a hypocrite and a pus** - if he has some issues with the policy - he should really first do something about 30+ daily Turkish's flights, or perhaps do something about sabotaging Russian oil & gas exports to Western Europe etc. - there are so many more obvious targets out there :)
This is ultimately an act of hostility towards Serbia as a country, since it is connected with it's overall position, meaning that the Serbian state should escalate and pursue this matter.
Who ever send these mails, don't understand that if he/she wants to hurt russia, the majority who can suffer are ordinary people travelling by they own needs. Russia will suffer little to none by this. Personally, I have understanding for Ukraine people because of what we have here back in '99. But if this insane mailing continues, many Serbians could find this undeserved and lost their sympathy, unfortunatelly.
ReplyDeleteAvoid airspace of Ukraine, because it is dangerous.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget 777 MAS.
And who shot the aircraft? MH17 since yesterday will involve Australia, Netherlands that will take legal action against Russia.
DeleteWho forced them to fly there?
DeleteThat was considered a safe corridor. Especially at that height.
DeleteThere are no safe corridors where Buk operates and in a war zone.
DeleteThat was the responsibility of Ukr. traffic controllers, regardless who fired the missile.
Air Serbia being the only European airline to fly to Russia has basically just cut its nose off despite its face.
ReplyDeleteWhatever positive brand they were able to establish the past 8 years or so has just been trashed.
The decision on continuing to fly to Russia will have an lingering impact on Air Serbia's operations in the near years to come. Opening new routes to North America might have just become that little more difficult now.
You seem bitter.
DeleteSame goes about Turkish brand?
DeleteJudging by their loads lately everything with their brand is just fine.
Delete@04,01
DeleteI wonder what kind of an imagine are EU countries giving by buying Russian gas? 1/5 of Russian gas exports in 2021 went to Germany, 35% of Russian gas exports went to 3 EU markets - Germany, France and Italy. EU countries also receive transit fees for this gas as well. Largest importers of Russian coal in the EU were Netherlands and Germany. Largest importers of Russian crude oil in the EU were Poland, Germany and the Netherlands. All EU land borders are open with Russia. Helsinki-St Petersburg train services have more than double the pax capacity per day compared to what JU offers to SVO, and the Finns have intentions to increase capacity. Serbia and its civilians are definitely a problem! Serbia is obviously a problem offering 540 seats at best in a day with its flights to Moscow. Obviously billions of Euros will be made there. Serbia will be the new Switzerland with those 540 daily seats to Moscow. Hypocrisy at its finest!
It was only a few days ago on a previous post i pointed out the same thing, Air Serbia is a tainted brand going forward.
ReplyDeleteI know other airlines are flying to Russia but for an airline that considers itself a European airline, shameful.
Tell that to TK.
DeleteAir Serbia is a Serbian airline, 'European' airline is more of a Turkish slogan.
Even though they're technically Middle-Eastern.
Delete@09:10 can you explain why shameful and if they quit flying what real damage would it do to Russia? I work in Moscow so how to get home if all airlines quit flying? Politics is one thing but aviation is another.
DeleteJust DO NOT publish anymore the departing time of SVO flights on the airport site to start with or place 10 flights per day to mask up the real one. Get 3 hrs minimum check in time prior to departure to enhance security screening. Get the sniffing dogs stationed at the airport and perform a check prior to each flight departure and ignore the e mail BS.
Delete@10:35
ReplyDelete"Shameful"
Maybe switch on a TV and see what's happening, Ohh, better not make that a Russian broadcaster, they'll be banging on about "The special operation", Shhhsss, it's not really a war (don't mention the war Basil).
Nothing special about attacking a European democracy.
The majority of the civilised world's stopped doing business with this pariah state, yet Air Serbia continue to facilitate normalised relations, that's shameful.
I know they're not alone but that doesn't make it any easier to swallow
"Damage to Russia"
Coventry (Google that one if you still have access to that in free Russia) is a very lonely place, especially in a globalised world.
If Russia wants to only deal with despot regimes it's going to be in good company for some time.
"Getting home"
I'm sure the Ukrainians who've been bombed out if their homes would like to come home as well, just a thought.
I do feel sorry for you having to work, do business in Russia, maybe diversify and work in a country with ethics.
