NEWS FLASH
Finland’s national carrier, Finnair, which recently decided to cut short operations on its new seasonal service between Helsinki and Zagreb by two months, has said it is uncertain whether the route will be restored in the summer of 2023. Although tickets are available for purchase from May 2 of next year, the airline told EX-YU Aviation News that no firm decision has been made. “Helsinki - Zagreb has been in our traffic plan for summer 2022. Our routes are constantly under review, and we had to make changes to our network in the current operating environment. The continuation of the Helsinki - Zagreb route will be reviewed together with all Finnair destinations”, the carrier noted.
This year only bad news for ZAG
ReplyDeleteLove how they openly admit they have made no decision yet have no issue selling tickets for next year.
ReplyDeleteAY decision to suspend LJU came in March. At this point, it was clear to them that the far eastern market was not going to return this summer and the route was not sustainable without them. On the other hand, they went ahead with ZAG, which indicates AY was not relying on the far east traffic on ZAG route and expected strong O&D traffic in the first place. Why would so many Finns fly into ZAG instead of the coastal destinations and it's obvious that outbound demand from ZAG is nonexistent?
ReplyDeleteFinnair, please do not selling hopes in advance...and after always bad excuse. 3 years continuously now. At least one or two flights per week could be fully booked. No matter E190 or A319.
