Ryanair extends Zagreb service reduction into July

Ryanair will be extending the reduction of planned frequencies and the temporary suspension of several destinations out of its Zagreb base until mid-July. The network cutbacks, which initially began in May, were due to conclude at the end of June. However, the airline has now extended the suspension of its Basel, Sofia and Bridnisi service until July 18. Flights to Sandefjord, Malaga and Paphos will run only once per week until mid-July, while frequency cuts have also been extended for Bergamo, Charleroi, Hahn, Gothenburg, Malmo, Malta, Memmingen and Weeze. Services to Corfu, which were to be inaugurated in June, have been pushed back until early July and reduced to just one flight per week.

Ryanair has reduced its Zagreb capacity by 35.000 seats this June. The latest development is the fifth month since the start of the year that Ryanair has either temporarily suspended or reduced its number of flights out of Zagreb. In January and February, sixteen of Ryanair’s routes from the Croatian capital were temporarily suspended due to reduced demand resulting from a resurgence in the coronavirus pandemic. The airline has provided no explanation for its latest decision. Staffing issues and a lack of equipment are believed to be partially to blame. The airline currently has two aircraft based in the Croatian capital, instead of three as initially planned.

Ryanair is also extending its frequency reductions and delaying the launch of a select numbers of new routes at its seasonal Zadar base. New services to Helsinki, Turin and Bournemouth, which had already been delayed until the start of June, will now be pushed back by another two weeks, when a third aircraft will be stationed in the coastal city. Despite the delays, this summer will be Ryanair’s busiest in Zadar with the budget carrier to operate 120 flights to 46 destinations, six of which are brand new. The inaugural flights to Bordeaux, Nuremberg and Sofia, which were also delayed earlier this year until early June will go ahead as planned this week.

Of course it is not staff issue.

They simply do not have good demand & sales in ZAG. If they cut the flights during high season, what can we expect in October & November?

So? Just because the tickets were 15 euros does not make the situation any better. Many people booked accommodation, tours etc based around the tickets they purchased. They also might have taken holiday leave from work and particular dates.

Load factor could be at 100 per cent and they still won't have good yields. Tickets are artificially low in price. Why do you think they have all these ad-ons or surprise charges. A good example would be ,and this is by reading trip reports, that system is down and people cannot check in on kine. When they check in at airport because of this, passengers have to pay.Airport staff would know if system was down. There would be alerts. My opinion just another way to try to help increase a low yield for a flight.

Well, Adeze bot, your Party obviously made Croatia that much poor and that much depopulated that people, those who still haven't left, live in such misery that they can't afford any more even Ryanair. Important is that we all pay for Private Adeze Airline OU, which is there, and will be there as long as convicted criminal organization is destroying Croatia, because it is there just for financial and non financial benefits of the bunch of selected. So yes, I proved you right as a bot

    6. First of all, it was reply to statement "Croatians don't travel abroad". And generalising brought no good to no one, ever. And Croatians travel. And yes, I have been seeing Croatians all around the World. The same as you can see Serbians, Albanians, Turks, Ukrainians and people from other countries poorer than Croatia. It has nothing to do with the fact that Adeze made Croatia poorer than it was before, and much more depopulated, and that with such politics there will be less and less people in Croatia who can afford to travel, even with Ryanair. And part of the story is Croatia Airlines, which had opportunity to be main carrier in the Balkans, not only because of its home market, which opportunity Adeze totally wasted and ruined the company. So sorry you can't "catch" the basics I talk about.
