Saudi Arabia’s Flynas touches down in Podgorica

NEWS FLASH

Saudi Arabian low cost carrier Flynas has launched seasonal summer flights between Riyadh and Podgorica, linking the two cities with a scheduled nonstop air service for the first time. Operations will be maintained once per week, each Thursday, until September 1. The Montenegrin government has temporarily lifted visa requirements for Saudi nationals until September 30 in a bid to lure tourists from the Kingdom. “The situation in the world is changing and Montenegro must diversify its market. In that respect, Saudi Araba, which is home to 35 million people, is a big market that has a lot to offer. The introduction of nonstop flights will serve as a catalyst not only for the tourism sector but also economic cooperation between our two countries. We must use this opportunity and I hope our collaboration continues to expand”, the President of the Board of Directors of operator Airports of Montenegro, Eldin Dobardžić, said. He noted that next year could see Flynas complement its Riyadh service with flights from Jeddah while there is also potential for flights to run during the winter due to Saudi interest for North Montenegro and its ski resorts.

A total of six flights from Saudi Arabia are unable to replace 20 daily flights from Russia as evidenced by Tivat Airport's poor results.

Many come from Albania. Kosovo is receiving tourists from the middle east with no direct flights because they arrive in Tirana and then drive up. Many can also take the drive to Montenegro as well

So even Podgorica can have Saudi flights .
The biggest airport in Ex Yu ( still Belgrade ) should have them too !
And scrap the visa, Saudis will never claim asylum because they have more money at home ..

That is so true . Saudi do not have any reason to leave their country to move to poor Balkan countries. They come in the summer or winter and go home like any other tourist. We need their money

5 rotations is hardly that you can say "Podgorica can have Saudi flights", but ok...

Five rotations are better than nothing, especially for a town like Podgorica .

It is ok. But basically this flights are defacto charters.

"Saudi do not have any reason to leave their country"... Well, if money would be the only reason to leave a country, yes. I am sure there are many who would escape to enjoy some freedom, even if that would be in the "poor Balkan country", my friend.
Anyway, even this is not a risc so visa lifting or not is rather political decision.

  6. Montenegro is desperate for hard currency due to their intelligent foreign policy. Good luck with these flights.
