NEWS FLASH
Skopje Airport has recorded its busiest August ever by handling 267.233 passengers, representing an increase of 1.2% on the pre-pandemic 2019. The total number of commercial aircraft movements stood at 1.785. During the January - August period, Skopje welcomed 1.389.807 travellers through its doors, which is still down 11.2% on three years ago. The strong rebound in numbers has been fuelled by Wizz Air, which has restored its entire network out of Skopje, as well as an increased number of charter flights.
Great result!
ReplyDeleteThe results are correct. January - July was 1.122.574.
ReplyDeleteWell then I am sorry. I see some other results probably they are not correct. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBtw do you have results for Ohrid for August ? Thank you
ReplyDeleteOhrid handled 39.383 passengers in August and 159.633 during January - August period.
ReplyDeleteGood numbers , thank you.
ReplyDeleteImagine if FZ and QR still flew to SKP. Numbers further increased?
ReplyDeleteyes at the moment some people use BEG and some people transfer with TK. So TK took pax from FZ and QR routes. So not all pax is lost from those routes, but people who go to BEG or other neighboring countries is lost pax for SKP.
DeleteFor 4-5 more flights a week? The difference would be minuscule.
DeleteYes definitly , SKP needes the old routes and airlines and of course new one , I think from next year slowly but sure SKP will come back on the pre Covid level. We expect new destinations to the main airports in Europe as well new airlines.
ReplyDeleteSKP has already met and covered its needs as an airport. Turkey and gasto routes are covered. Travel from Australia is lower since 2020.
DeleteAlbanian diaspora is also served by PRN now with a new runway upgrade and TIA.
You have flights to BEG and ZAG. More than enough for a 1,7 million market....
Yes but SKP needs also a better connection with main airports like Paris , Amsterdam , Frankfurt , from the main one is only Vieanna and Istanbul ..Also Doha and Dubai are lost in the moment which is impact from the Australian macedonian diaspora. The government try to bring some new airlines with new destinations , which is good. For a country of less then 2 milion to have 46-47 destinations is not a small job.
ReplyDeleteSKP have alot of potential and grows every year , maybe doesnt have alot of pax but the destinations are good and will have more better in future.
Travel from Australia is completely back. QR flights to Belgrade are currently packed with transfers from Australia. So using this as an excuse for there being no Flydubai or Qatar Airways flights is not valid anymore. Also SKP must be the only European capital with no point to point demand to Dubai. I just don't get it.
DeleteI agree completely with anon 18:39.
DeleteDubai is not only a transfer destination but has more P2P travel amongst many European capitals. Even LJU will receive almost daily flights.
SJJ demand is also very strong even if it's seasonal.
Fact is also that QR lack the A320s needed and FZ are expanding elsewhere.
SKP may aspire for turboprop closer destinations or try retrieving CSA or Alitalia.
Let's be reminded that pre-covid August was busted by some 20-40K (including families of people that didn't entered the stadium) fans coming for the Euro Super Cup final match. Having that said I think we are set for strong recovery in H2 of 2022. I hope that 2023 will be able to go to 2.5M passengers.
ReplyDeleteBig problem is the fall of the main Romanian air carrier. This is driving out the WizzAir plans for ExYou expansion as Romanian economy is bigger and more attractive.
ReplyDeleteThey suspended many flights much before Blue Air went bankrupt.
