NEWS FLASH
Zagreb and Belgrade airports will see several charters for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in addition to scheduled services operated by the sporting event’s official carrier Qatar Airways, which will increase both frequencies and capacity to the two capitals.
Croatia Airlines will operate a flight between Zagreb and Doha on November 22, a day ahead of the country’s first group game. The service is scheduled to depart at 08.00 in the morning. The return flight will operate the day following the completion of the match. It will depart for the Croatian capital on November 24 at 00.30. Croatia plays its opening match against Morocco at 11.00 on November 23.
The Czech-based Smartwings has been chartered to run two flights from Belgrade to Doha on November 24, departing at 03.30 and 05.00 in the morning. Serbia plays its first group game match that same evening, at 22.00 local time against Brazil. The two Boeing 737-800 aircraft will then operate a service between Doha and Ras Al-Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates, before the return flight to the Serbian capital the following morning, on November 25, leaving at 07.40 and 08.10 local time.
Further changes are expected, while the deployment of additional flights will greatly depend on the progression of the two teams.
For Belgrade/Smartwings charters - who is the 'beneficiary' - i.e. who chartered Smartwings? :)
ReplyDeleteTour operators. Lots of agencies selling packages including with tickets.
DeleteBut do we know which ones exactly? I am curious as - as far as I know - travel agencies are doing only Dubai based stays + some of them cooperating with Qatar Airways for longer stay packages.
DeleteStill nothing about LJU-DOH..
ReplyDeleteWhat should there be about LJU-DOH?
DeleteLJU - DOH is not happening anytime soon
DeleteLju-doh is happening in 2023, only chance of it mot happening is either covid again or global financial crisis
DeleteWith Croatia entering Schengen i highly doubt it
DeleteWhat would Schengen have to do with it? I doubt Qatar air would cancel a positive business case because there won’t be border control between Slovenia and Croatia.
DeleteSo you spend less than 24h in Doha with Smartwings charters? If I flew all the way to Qatar, Id expect to stay at least 2 days ...
ReplyDeleteWith transfer time to and from airport and waiting time at the airport, you will get to spend in Doha less than 20 hours, which is crazy to go on such a long trip just to spend 20 hours somewhere. But I guess if they have 2 charters that someone already bought tickets.
DeleteThe people on those planes aren't going there for sightseeing. Also finding accommodation in Qatar for ''at least 2 days'' in that period would mean bankruptcy for most people.
DeleteThose are prize game winners, they got it for free so even one nights stay is OK, together with BRA-SRB match.
DeleteI think Doha is already struggling with hotel accomodation and prices are through the roof. Many of these people don't care about Doha as anyway there isn't much to see over there. They are going to cheer for Serbia and all they care is to see the match.
DeleteI think they are going to be extremely disappointed when they find out there is no alcohol. lol
Bravo Hrvatska
