Europe's busiest airline, Ryanair, will add six new destinations from Podgorica and the Croatian coast next year, as it continues to expand its operations throughout the former Yugoslavia. Furthermore, the budget airline plans to grow frequencies on existing services across the region. Ryanair will introduce its tenth destination from Podgorica, with flights to Gdansk launching on March 27. Services will run twice per week. Gdansk will become the fifth Polish city to be served from the Montenegrin capital. Ryanair faces no direct competition on the route. “We are very pleased with our Podgorica operations, which continue to perform strongly”, the Irish low cost carrier said.
The bulk of Ryanair’s summer expansion in the region will be focused on the Croatian coast with the introduction of five new seasonal routes. The airline will launch new services from its summer base in Zadar to Munster, Rzeszow and Milan Malpensa Airport, as well as from Rijeka to Bergamo and from Pula to Katowice. Zadar - Malpensa will run alongside Bergamo. At its Zagreb base, the carrier will restore seasonal operations to Bratislava, Brindisi, Corfu, Malmo and Thessaloniki, while flights between Zagreb and Dortmund are yet to be put on sale for next summer. The carrier has told EX-YU Aviation News that its Zagreb network for next summer season, which begins on March 26, is yet to be finalised.
Route | Launch date |
---|---|
Gdansk - Podgorica | 27.03.2023 |
Bergamo - Rijeka | 27.03.2023 |
Katowice - Pula | 02.06.2023 |
Zadar - Rzeszow | 02.06.2023 |
Zadar - Munster | 03.06.2023 |
Milan - Zadar | 04.06.2023 |
Ryanair has said additional new routes will be announced in the coming weeks. “For customers looking to book early and get ahead of the summer rush, Ryanair, Europe’s most reliable airline, has announced that its summer 2023 network is now on sale, offering customers the lowest fares across its unbeatable selection of 2.500 routes to sunny hotspots and vibrant city break destinations across Europe, with even more exciting routes to be announced throughout the coming weeks”, the carrier said. The airline has also increased frequencies on select routes, such as its seasonal Niš - Corfu service, which will run three times per week, but it is yet to schedule its operations out Banja Luka for next summer.
wow they just keep growing from Zadar
ReplyDeleteI think they have now reached 50 destinations from ZAD.
DeleteZAD is going to need that new terminal ASAP.
DeleteDepends, if they actually earn any money from FR...
DeleteZadar makes loads of money, what are you talking about?
DeleteZAD is financing the new terminal with own money. Guess they earn it.
DeleteGreat to see another new route to Podgorica
ReplyDeleteWouldn't these Polish routes be better suited from Tivat?
DeleteTGD probably gave them a better deal.
DeleteIt's run by the same company and it is no secret they properly push traffic onto Podgorica.
DeleteLet's see what demand looks like next summer. Inflation is starting to go out of control and purchasing power is declining.
ReplyDeleteTrivago said that Europeans are looking for shorter stays in cheaper hotels which is an indicator of things to come. Croatia has been going crazy with pricing so let's see what happens next summer.
Ryanair might profit from its low cost structure but they are just one part of the much larger chain.
Yeah, unfortunately it is looking more and more like a major global recession is just around the corner but people have saved up big during covid and are still eager to travel and spend which will inly make inflation worse. Next year will still be a solid year but the year after could be the start of a bit of a decline which could last a few years.
DeleteCOVID savings were spent this year, unfortunately. We can already see various European airports undeperform, just look at Budapest or Frankfurt, both are at -20% compared to 2019.
DeleteWhy did they leave BNX without planned flights so far. Want more money or
DeleteAre any old routes being discontinued from Zadar next year?
ReplyDeleteNothing loaded from Bari or Naples yet.
DeleteLots of routes only starting in June. Not a lot of shoulder season traffic.
DeleteHopefully they add another route from INI now that they boosted INI-CFU. Would love to see BVA being added.
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteI think INI needs more leisure destinations. Maybe CHQ or PFO.
DeletePodgorica is really doing great. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMontenegro keeps winning!
ReplyDeleteNGL Montenegro has been pretty unstoppable these last few months. Nothing can stop them at this point.
DeleteWhat other new routes have been announced from Montenegro that makes them unstoppable?
DeleteWell, they are starting to announce them. Wizz Air is growing nicely as well, Air Montenegro will announce a new round of routes for next summer and so on. Passenger numbers have been great so far and there are no signs of a slowdown. Like I said, MNE is literally unstoppable!
DeleteOk, that is nice. Wouldn't agree that Tivat numbers are good though. They are terrible this year. Wishing both airports success next year.
DeleteTivat numbers are suffering because of the Russian market.
DeleteUKR too
DeleteTGD can replace Russian market temporarily with Poland. This is a huge market and there are still many airports to be covered. Radom Airport which is close to Warsaw is expected to operated next year. Quite surprised there are no links yet with Modlin. It is also a Ryanair airport used quite a lot.
DeleteLooking forward too see the additional new routes.
ReplyDeleteHopefully FR will introduce routes from Zadar to the Baltics and Iberia, along with some more destinations in Scandinavia.
DeleteThey also announced quite a new routes in Bulgaria, in both Varna and Burgas and Baltic airports. Guess they are responding to airBaltic recent agressive expansion. Amazed by Zadar. Insane coverage, well done! TGD is obviously indeed of more p2p routes to Europe.
ReplyDeleteAnything new from Sofia?
DeleteOnly Wroclaw from Sofia for the time being. Quite unexpected destination.
DeleteAnonymous 09:17 both airports give FR incentives.
DeleteProbably trying to attract Polish tourists.
Delete09:27 - Do you have any info?
DeleteBanja Luka is probably not scheduled yet because that are working out their schedule from Bosnia with potential Sarajevo base and Tuzla expansion.
ReplyDeleteWill this affect BNX?
DeletePossibly if the free money at SJJ is enough.
DeleteNo it won't affect it. It has more to do with organising fleet and rotations.
DeleteI believe they are still looking at the potential destination(s) in Greece. Would be a shame if they don't put at least 3 new destinations from BNX to Greece
DeleteI believe they will be the ones launching Athens.
DeleteI vote for BNX -FKB,SKG,CFU
DeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteIncredible how Zadar has grown, especially considering how close split is. It's a shame that Pula and Rijeka are doing so badly.
ReplyDeleteAlso interested in how air traffic from Poland to the Adriatic is growing. In the past mainly by car to the Adriatic Sea, today by plane
All Adriatic airports are seasonal except Split. Zadar is dead during winter. Zadar, Rijeka and Pula should be classified as a seasonal airports
DeleteHope one day Ryan will land in beg. To compete ju & w6
ReplyDeleteThat would be bad news for JU.
Deletewhat about Ljubljana (MBX)?
ReplyDeleteLJU is too busy with LH Cartel.
DeleteRijeka - Eindhoven is really workijg out for Transavia, I think it would be very succesful for ryanair too. The flights from Eindhoven attract people from the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and even Luxemburg!
ReplyDeleteWorking*
DeleteIt is not ex-yu, but FR also announced Barcelona and Dublin from Trieste, and Alicante and Palma de Mallorca from Klagenfurt.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are currently expanding in many countries and places. It is amazing how they mainly focus on Europe with very few exceptions such as Morocco, Jordan and Israel. 6 Croatian airports, 2 Bosnian, 10 Moroccan airports already. Their Spanish and Italian airports coverage is insane. Only NMacedonia and Slowenija are missing.
DeleteNice to see Bergamo-Rijeka on the MAX. They managed to pack over 200 seats on that plane.
ReplyDeleteI had to google Munster
ReplyDelete:-)
DeleteInteresting that Ryanair flies to Zadar-Bergamo and Zadar-Milan. The market seems to be really big in summer, I wouldn't have thought it
ReplyDeleteeasyJet used to fly on the route too in the past.
DeleteWith the current ZAD potential, there can easily be ZAD-ZAG Ryanair flights even if they are 2 weekly.
DeleteNo market for that, they should launch DBV-ZAG. Maybe even TIV-ZAG or Trebinje-ZAG, both of these last two could be alternatives to the overpriced DBV.
DeleteTrebinje? Why not Ploče ;-)
DeleteTrebinje, the fourth airport in the area of 100km with a population of less than 50k
DeleteI would like to see more Mediterranean options out of Nis.
ReplyDeleteNiš to Budapest would be a killer if happen
ReplyDeleteAlready happened as a part of that infamous 2019 PSO by JU. Was a miserable failure and the first line to be cut at that time.
DeleteTourism in Montenegro seems to switch from Russian to Polish tourists .
ReplyDeleteBut a market of 38 million will never compensate for one of 147 million+
Polish, Czech, Slovak and Baltic market can easily replace it. Don't forget that living standards in those countries is quite higher now. Baltic can pay directly in Euro.
DeleteNot saying Russian is not important, but a temporary solution for TGD.
This solution will not be temporary but for ever .
DeleteBecause sanctions are never ending ...
This, I don't know my friend. That's why it would be a good alternative for TGD to have Central European market. Russians now are looking into Turkey, Egypt, etc. where they are not sanctioned.
Toliko.
DeleteWhen is FR starting operations from LJU/ MBX, and what kind of routes will they introduce?
ReplyDeleteNo flights from Ireland to either Pula or Rijeka. Istria used to be the most popular destination in Yugoslavia with Yugotours and Phoenix Travel. An opportunity for some airline again?
ReplyDeleteIf only they started Dublin Belgrade…
ReplyDelete
