NEWS FLASH
Virgin Australia will commence codeshare flights to both Zagreb and Belgrade later this month. The Australian carrier will place its designator code and flight numbers onto Qatar Airways’ services from Doha to the Croatian and Serbian capitals. The Zagreb codeshare will come into effect on November 21, as VA6009/10, and the Belgrade one on November 25, as VA6072/73. Travellers are now able to book flights to the two cities through the Virgin Australia website. The partnership between the two carriers also allows frequent flyers from each to enjoy reciprocal benefits and the opportunity to earn and burn points on either carrier. Virgin Australia is the country’s second largest airline, with an extensive domestic network and a fleet of almost eighty aircraft. In addition to Virgin Australia, Qatar’s Zagreb service is already codesahred by Oman Air and Cathay Pacific, while its Belgrade operations are codeshared by Oman Air, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines and SriLankan Airlines.
Excellent. Both are up on VA website. Speaking as a Serb in Australia, Qatar Airways has become the number 1 airline for us to travel to Belgrade. They have a large Australian network, good connections, great service and the fares are often more reasonable than not.
ReplyDeleteJust that their Sydney flights require an overnight in Doha on the return at the moment until their second Sydney flight starts.
DeleteI'm confused. Virgin Australia doesn't fly to Doha, so we are just talking about Virgin Australia selling codeshare flights where the entire itinerary between Australia and Ex-Yu is operated by Qatar Airways?
ReplyDeleteYes. But you can now buy a ticket from Alice Springs or Launceston to Belgrade and Zagreb with Virgin Australia.
DeleteAmazing!
DeleteTremendous!
DeleteBravo Hrvatska, Bravo Srbija!!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent news for me. As a Virgin Velocity member, I will be able to use my points to fly to Zagreb.
