NEWS FLASH
Zagreb Airport is rolling out automatic boarding pass verification, enabling passengers to simply scan their boarding passes in order to proceed to security, rather than have their documents manually checked. The move aims to enhance efficiency in daily operations. The new boarding pass scanners are currently being tested at the airport. According to the “Croatia Aviation” portal, a total of four such scanners have now been set up. Automatic boarding pass verification will be fully implemented at Zagreb Airport at the start of the new year. Split Airport is currently the only one in the country to boast such technology.
Good move. Will they introduce the same for when boarding planes?
ReplyDeleteI mean at the gates.
DeleteLjubljana has this since opening new terminal. Last time i also noticed they have same for boarder control - passport scanners.
ReplyDeleteLjubljana has everything - except passengers....
DeleteDoes LJU have passport scanners? Last time I flew LJU-IST I dont remember passport scanners as my passport was checked by guys in the uniforms :D
Deleteyes they do. when entering passport control they are on your left. 4 of them.
DeletePerhaps it's also got to do with Ryanair operations. They prefer to have quicker and more efficient travel. In the entire Spanish airports network you have them for some time and very handy. Almost nobody uses paper except for the more elderly maybe. Just scan your phone and you are good to go in seconds. Same applies at the exit gate. There they will ask you for your ID or passport for sure but still takes a couple of seconds. Welcome to the 21st century! :)
ReplyDeleteSurprised at this, even SKP has automatic boarding pass verification
ReplyDeletesurprised only because you underestimate everything regarding SKP or MK in general
DeleteI am from Macedonia. So, I don’t think I overestimate anything 😂
DeleteBRU has it, but still they check it also manually (with hand scanners) before the security.... I never understood why.
ReplyDeleteI live in Brussels and I've never had mine checked manually.
DeleteCheck next time and remember what you wrote here. ;-)
DeleteSkopje airport has automatic boarding pass long time ago ... Hahah
ReplyDeleteIn Vienna they have them, but they are still manually checked along with the passport and initialed in the seating area of the gate before boarding commences, then you still scan them at the barrier. This happens for all Austrian flights anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe best I saw is in Dubai for business and first class passengers. There is a tunnel and you just need to walk through and look straight, cameras with facial recognition do the job.
