Air Serbia and American Airlines expand partnership

Air Serbia has expanded its interline partnership with American Airlines offering passengers connections between Belgrade and over seventy additional destinations in the United States. By expanding the interline partnership and adding Chicago to the Serbian national airline’s network from May 17, it will be easier to reach Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, Santa Ana, Miami, San Antonio, Denver, Orlando, Jacksonville, Boston, Portland, Tampa, Houston, New Orleans, Austin, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Nashville, Washington, Memphis, Omaha, Springfield and many other cities from Belgrade. Commenting on the development, Air Serbia’s Manager for International Affairs and Alliances, Ivana Miklja Mučalov, said, “We are very satisfied with the expansion of the partnership between our two companies. This way, we enable passengers to reach numerous destinations in the USA via Belgrade. The launch of nonstop flights between Belgrade and Chicago has greatly contributed to this expansion. With the commencement of this route, and with a reliable partner like American Airlines, our passengers will be able to reach all parts of USA easier and quicker”. Air Serbia had previously said it plans to conclude a codeshare agreement with a major US carrier.

  5. Velike mogucnosti i potencijal za AirSerbia produbljujuci partnership sa jenom od vodecih kompanija. American Airlines. Sa transformacijom flote i mreze i poslovanja, realno je poziv za pristupanje asocijaciji One World.
    Air Serbia bi bila potencijalno jedna od retkih avio kompanija u Evropi clan pomenute asocijacije.
    Pogotovo u centralnoj i Jugoistocnoj Evropi.
    Vreme ce pokazati. Er Srbija je u velikom zamahu. Ocigledno.

    2. Most profitable airlines are not part of any alliance, and they are doing much better with an interline agreements. I hope JU stays out of the codeshare agreements and continue with their success on their own.

      The basic characteristic of an interline agreement from a passenger's point of view is that you don't need to recheck your baggage when you are using two different airlines.

      Interline in essence allows passengers to book through itineraries on two (or more) airlines with less hassle than booking each one separately which also includes tagging baggage to final destination. Codeshare agreement allows airlines to place flight numbers on each other flights which essentially allows the airline ti market that flight as its own and receive comission on part of ticket sales even if its operated by the other carrier.

  12. Next move is direct flight on MIA, hub of AA, and codeshare and transfer to extensive number of routes of AA to South/ Central America and Caribbeans

      Chances for MIA went down with this. Air Serbia was hoping for a codeshare, announced a codeshare last year but only got an interline.

      It's better than nothing but there is less advantage now for Air Serbia to expand to other American Airline hubs like MIA or LAX. That's why Toronto might improve chances of finally getting JU service.

    Wow, “who cares about Toronto”, what an ignorant and factless statement, go back to kindergarden, child. Toronto is the power house of Canada, one of the most liveable cities in the wold and a gateway to North America, largest canadian airport and 4th largest airport for international connection in North America with 52 million passengers a year at this time after covid, every major airline flies there for years, so evidently they are not losing money.

    Hopefully the interline with AA will bring other ONEWORLD Carriers into future developments with route expansions of AIr Serbia. Eastern Europe will experience rapid growth as people choose to visit the area and AIr Serbia has unlimited potential with partners that will stimulate their growth and not create roadblocks to their success.
