NEWS FLASH
Croatia Airlines has scheduled two more routes set to commence operations this year, which were announced back in November 2022. The carrier will launch a two weekly rotation between Split and Skopje, which will commence on May 12 and run until October 14. Furthermore, the carrier will inaugurate a one weekly service between Split and Oslo, which will operate between May 14 and October 15. Tickets are due to go on sale in the coming days. Last month, the Croatian carrier scheduled a new one weekly service between Braฤ and Munich for the summer. The airline is yet to set its timetable for the announced Dubrovnik - Prague service. Croatia Airlines faces no competition on the Split - Skopje flights but will compete against SAS Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle on the Oslo service.

This will reduce unnecessary administrative workforce, increase productivity, strenghten their already strong hub, enable transfer traffic, reduce seasonality, change their pathetic feeder role, eliminate crime, erase corruption, prove they are soooo well managed and without any political influence, and so on and so forth

DeleteBy the amount of Bravos you would think they had launched flights to New York and Sydney. Instead we are talking about a total of 4 weekly new seasonal flights to Skopje, Oslo and Munich in total.

DeleteIt's not about few one per week flight. It's about the entire system which is non-logical, not taking opportunity of croatian potentials, it's about lack of strategy and their market share of 15 %. Neither one per week seasonally on few services nor any new aircraft can change it. Unfortunatelly.

DeleteWell, your logic is obviously weak if you are not aware that every single flight, one per week or five per day, is a part of the system. If you don't have system, you have nothing. And they don't have the system. Don't have strategy. Once per week flights during four peak months will probably even earn some money and provide some connectivity, so yes, from that point of view they are logical, but if entire system is useless and loss making, these few flight can't change it and that's why they are not logical

From my point of few, within industry, and in my opinion, much closer to real life situation, Croatia with its corrupt and failed flag carrier missed all opportunities and wasted all of potentials of becoming hub for southeastern Europe. Plus, isn't it nicer to fly to FRA and then take Cartel train to DUS. What a scenery along the Rhine river - castles, wineyards...You see how happy actually you are to enjoy such benefits only oferred by OU

ReplyDeleteHow does a flight leaving skopje at 10 pm and arriving to split at 11, flying back to skopje the next day at 5 AM make sense? It’s probably the plane from ZAG which will have to leave more early in the evening, probably affecting some connections from flights that arrive to ZAG later at night, and then when it flies back it will fly later since its going from split, which will then result in missing the early morning departures OU has from ZAG. For anyone saying this is effective planning and management please start using your brains.

DeleteZAG is now an Schengen and Eurozone capital and must focus on connections to real European destinations. What about important markets such as UK? What about Spain?
Also this blog has shown many times that SKP is a mainly gasto airport. The locals, compared to BEG or ZAG, for instance have a very low purchasing power. The only explanation is of course the sweet subsidies offered my the NMK govt.
There are enough people in MK who can afford a vacation in Croatia. So I don't see the problem. Even Montenegro had last year 27k Macedonian tourists so Croatia had probably more so there should be enough demand.
DeleteShould is the key word you said. Maybe there are people in NMK who can afford a vacation in SPU but the question is are there enough for a 2 weekly seasonal service? We will see. Also wonder how many Croatians will do SPU-SKP.
DeleteThe flights a few years ago operated for a total of 2 weeks (2 flights in total) before they were suspended.
